can anyone confirm this? so upon hit paladin no longer divine smite. i have the reaction set on hit ask ask.

I smited yesterday. Notice that all different spell level smited need to be separately activated from reactions menu.

Yup, Smite is now activated before the attack. It doesn't consume the spell slot if it misses so it's functionally the same, just more user friendly I'd say. The "asking" thing is now for only if it crits.
