There seems to be a bug when you have to many different bonii attack to the weapon attack bonus.
I got some new gloves that add advantage on weaponmaster attack checks, and give +2 base attack bonus.
When equipping them, my bonus show in the inventory screen actually drops !
Checking the tooltip for the attack bonus, it lists only a total of 5 boni - when removing the gloves, the +2 vanish, and the +4 from proficiency shows up, increasing my total bonus.
I could not check if this also applies in combat.
