when i hover my mouse over it, it only says what it is and the weight.

Wearing rings does that what their description tells you. In your case nothing, but you will most certainly find rings which increase your vitalitiy or enhance your hearing e.t.c

what does improving hearing do?

I have no idea, i do have two rings which claim to do that, but I havenot experienced any difference. Maybe it really allows you to hear nearby monsters at a greater distance or it is linked with some skill I don't know (yet)

IMSMR, "hearing" allows you to detect enemies on your 'radar' screen earlier.

there are some very nice charmable rings out there some allow up to 4-5 charms, same as the belts, helmets, boots and gloves, not much for the sword and shields yet as far as i can tell- does anyone know any more on this subject? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ouch.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

Any item can potentially have a Charm Quality. My Shield and Belt have 3 slots each.

In the armoury in the market place there is a table full of weapons....Go to the table and wait for the owner to stand in front of the door or leave the screen then pick up the shield that needs to be identified, it is a magic shield that has a good charm quality a good defense and alot of other good things.

The armoury is almost straight to the right of the blacksmith in Rivertown marketplace

Maybe, but remeber that stats are random. So they never are the same twice!

Yeah but my friend got the exact same shield.......the stats were not the same but it still had good defence, charm quality a couple resistances and a skill
