I've been playing BG3 with a friend and my game has been freezing completely for several seconds (sometimes up to ~20 seconds) at seemingly random times. It can happen multiple times within a few minutes, or not at all for about 15 minutes. It's often enough though that it really makes the game pretty frustrating. It can happen just walking around, mid-dialogue or cutscene, or during combat. Windows will give the loading cursor for the game window, but eventually it does always unfreeze if I let it go for awhile.
I've been playing connected to my friend who is hosting. When the freezes happen to me, his game also tends to become nonresponsive but not frozen (i.e. the game isn't frozen, but he can't move or interact with any objects or NPCs). Both of these issues go away at the same exact time.
None of my monitoring software picks up anything unusual that I can really tell. CPU usage doesn't spike, memory, disk activity all seems fine. Temperatures are normal.
No other game has any issues of any sort, even some extremely CPU- and GPU-demanding games.
As for specs, I'm using an AMD Ryzen 5 5800x3d, Gigabyte 3080 Ti, 32GB DDR4 RAM, and the game is installed on an SSD with plenty of free space. Graphics drivers are 536.67 - updated them as soon as the game fully released when I was warned by the Larian launcher. I'm running Windows 10.
My friend's PC has even newer hardware (except an Intel CPU), 4090, 64GB RAM, also on an M.2 SSD, etc, so it doesn't seem linked to my issues.
Doesn't seem to matter what graphics options I use. Tried verifying game files, made sure power options were set to high performance, deleted the files in the Documents/Larian Studios/Baldur's Gate 3/ folder except my profiles. I don't run a bunch of programs in the background, just a couple Chrome tabs and Discord which are not using many resources. I've tried just about everything I've read and there's no difference.
The hotfix #2 released today on Steam has not fixed my problem, so I'm here asking if anyone has a similar issue or has any suggestions as this is making it pretty difficult to enjoy playing when it freezes so often and for so long.
