Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Having Steam open will prevent the game from launching

This has been an issue since the last patch. Previously to updating it I could play just fine.

As soon as I click play on steam BG3.exe has stopped working. Then LariLauncher.exe has stopped working.

The same happens if I try to run it from the folder, like I used to do. BG3.exe immediately stops working as soon as I double click the file. And then LariLauncher.

I tried giving administration privileges to both launchers and larilauncher, doesn't change anything.

I tried adding the no-launcher line, to no avail still.

If I close Steam, and I run the game it runs normally. However I cannot play with my friends as the game cannot connect online.

I'm completely puzzled by this.

I hope this is the right place to post this. I think it is.

I'm playing on Windows 7. Is there a crash-dump file somewhere I can paste elsewhere?

There are at least three other threads with this problem.

Try launching the game directly from bg3.exe (use a desktop shortcut for ease of use).

If you were using DX11 (i.e. not Vulkan) then use bg3_dx11.exe
