350 skin colors and no ebon black for Drow, but there's jet-black face paint. Why can there be "inaccurate" pale, green, yellow, caucasian, ect. skin for Drow but not the actual, appropriate jet-black skin color?

Spare me anything relating to real life too btw, because it's asinine and there's zero connection or sound comparison to real people. There's no excuse for their dark shades to be shades of purple and blue.

Awesome game. Thank you.

There should be a checkbox to unlock all of the available skin tones for character creation. There are several skin tones that are close to jet black. Those are pretty lore accurate if that's what you are looking for.

There are plenty of "black skintones" to pick up..?

If you are looking for some weird "black hole pitch black that doesn't get surface refraction when hit by direct lighting (especially when applied to a simulated "human skin") that's simply not something that exists and that would look well in any game, either.

Party control in Baldur's Gate 3 is a complete mess that begs to be addressed. SAY NO TO THE TOILET CHAIN

Careful, go too dark and Anish Kapoor might sue you.

black is not a colour

its actually hard for many Gpu to rendor a true black and even then your system monitor needs to be set correct to show it

Most likely this! I was sure I set the in-game brightness balance correctly, yet, black is not black in the game. It is especially true for the character portraits: Shadowheart has rainbow-coloured hair in her portrait and Gale is white-haired there.

If you want jet-black, OP, check your monitor settings.

Larian actually removed some of the darkest skin tones that were in the EA. Even with unlocked colors, you can only really create a dark blue, or a dark grey drow.

It's annoying, because the (almost) pitch black skin with white air is by far their coolest look.

This is clearly not the reason, since my gpu is very weak, but i still play just fine with jet black skin mod.

And it is indeed right that such option were available without mods. I wonder, if any developer reading it might comment on reason of removal?

Btw, Dragonborn still has such option and has zero issues with it, you can see screenshot of my character in appropriate post - i used no mods to create dragomborn, black is available for them by default.

It's really a weird desision and i am interesting about what's behind it.

I was told by my non-white friend that really black Drow is a bit of racial appropriation for people of color.

It's a fantasy video game that has no correlation with real world. There are no "racial appropriations".

Tell that to Wizards of the Coast who made Orcs "not inherently evil" anymore for exact such ridiculous reason.

While I'm not sure of the answer to this (and this conversation feels really uncomfortable), if I had to hazard a comment I'd say it probably isn't something that's very...thought about?.... by most people when people are considering the different races of fantasy creatures/how they could have come from harmful stereotypes, but they might still make some people uncomfortable. Kinda like with goblins.

That being said, this is probably not the best line of questioning to be having here haha.

The type of people who constantly scream about cultural appropriation couldn't decide if they were Asien (Mongols specifically) or Blacks, but they whined and screamed anyway until WotC caved in because they are afraid of bad press and wanted to use this for some virtue signaling.

Are your friend having a jet black skin?

You can easily create a character with brown skin in this game, the color than absolute majority of non-white people have. There is no humans who have jet black skin, so it should not be an issue.
