I know the likelihood of a developer reading this is slim, but here goes:
I believe people on the forum are a bit perplexed as to how the romance system is SUPPOSED to work. Some romances don’t seem to work at all despite being actively pursued, some seem to occur against peoples interests, and there seems to be hidden limits or blockers or even new triggers for romances.
It is, at the moment, unclear what’s a bug, what’s a romance broken by an unchecked or out of order story cue, or what’s an undesired romance triggered by repeated “pestering” on the part of some complaints. So I am asking for clarification on how it is SUPPOSED to work so we can sort intention from unintention.
-What are the intended prerequisites to initiate a romance with a companion? It’s clearly something other than approval and personal quest completion.
-Why is there no way to shut an undesired romance without being an asshole?
-Why do gently shut down romances apparently surge back?
-Are there hidden triggers to shut on or off certain romances? Perhaps if you are not romancing enough people or too many during the early acts characters will push forward or pull back? What’s going on?
-Have you identified any known bugs or breaks in the system?
