For all you veterans out there, what’s your trick for not going insane? I admit I’m a bit of a horder, and combine that with a certain wizard’s need for magical items, and my pockets are stuffed with more items from magical to mundane than I can deal with. There are so many magical items thrown at you that I almost can’t be bothered reading all their descriptions! It’s exhausting! And then items get spread out among characters with gaps in between (empty cells in the inventory)… the whole thing is very clunky…

I’m just rambling about inventory stuff now, but I LOVE this game but the inventory system is driving me crazy. How do you deal with it? Do you sell everything? Are there books that need to be kept? Or read them toss them or sell them? I’ve got more potions than I know what to do with and yet I haven’t really needed them so far (level 5 in the under dark atm)…

There’s just so much stuff… how do you handle it?

I mean, some of us have been ranting about the inventory being one of the major flaws in the game for three years at this point.
So yeah, you either get somewhat used to it or go mad.

They even reworked it multiple times, admittedly, but maybe the real issues went over their heads, because they kept showing up again and again at every re-iteration.
For instance they now added "category bags" that should "absorb" items of certain kinds automatically... Except they work half of the times, and even then they do their job poorly.

I wasn't even dreaming of anything too fancy or elaborate, really. Games like PoE II and the two Pathfinders already did this stuff A LOT better (and they weren't exactly at the cutting edge of UI design, let me tell you).

Anyway, there are already multiple threads about this specific topic in the Suggestions and Feedback subforum.
And I mean multiple threads started on the last few days, to be clear... because if we were looking at the old ones made during EA there would be enough stuff to fill books about the topic.

Party control in Baldur's Gate 3 is a complete mess that begs to be addressed. SAY NO TO THE TOILET CHAIN

Better than in dos2, but still a pain.. personally I bring lots of chests to the camp and store stuff Im not using im specialized containers, have pouches on the inventory with different stuff like a magic Arrow pouch , and trying to stop myself from picking up every rotten tomato (I fail at that, I'm a crazy hoarder). I got my Rep with a trader to max and Visit him after every long rest to sell junk . I keep stashing items I thought would be useful on quests, but I think now that only ones with Orange outline somewhat matter. Also remember that with tab key you can freely move stuff between party members, in combat too

I have several bags in my inventory to store scrolls, potions, quest items etc. Makes things less of a mess, and you can put the bags on your hotbar.

You still have to clean up every now and then though.
