Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Downloaded HF2. Now game won't start

Hi all,

I just downloaded hot Fix 2 from Steam. Now when I attempt to start the game from the launcher, nothing happens. It wass working literally twenty minutes ago, then i downloaded the Hot Fix 2. Did HF2 break mods? Anyone else seeing this?

I had this as well, the only workaround i've been able to make work is to close down steam entirely, including exiting steam. Then navigate to BG3s SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\bin directory and launch the game directly by clicking either bg3.exe or bg3_dx11.exe depending on Vulkan or DirectX11.

In another forum thread others reported the issue being fixed by deleting the HotFix2.pak file and then verifying integrity of the game files through steam.
