Hey guys,
It's been a while since I came here last time and I won't do a very detailed feedback here.
I just end the game and just want to say that as expected during this 3 years : BG3 is the best cRPG experience I had for the last 20 years.
It is very close to BG1 and BG2 in my cRPG pantheon.
I may have been very harsh during EA but I think it was for the best. Many systems and things we talked about have been changed and the release build is SO MUCH better than the EA one.
I had a very good time and can't wait to restart a new playthrough.
A few things I think should have been better / are missing :
- I really think you should have work on the "living" aspect of the world outside the players actions (day and night, meteo, random/unexpected encounters,...) and it's coherence (visually / mechanically : VFX, fast travel system, resting system, shove fest, spiritual weapons and bears climbing ladders,...). That's probably THE thing that makes BG3 slightly inferior to BG1 and BG2 in my opinion. There are solutions to makes things as fun as they are while being coherent as a whole imo.
- You should really have used the worldmap.
--It would have helped to make the world feel bigger
-- It could have helped to justify / explain "timed" event. I had 2 times very bad endings because the message when entering the moutain pass and the temple of Shar are unclear + the quest book was not updated.
- You should really have integrated the resting system in the game's difficulty balance.
It work extremely well in the last 3 combats of the game and could have worked well for most dungeons.
I guess many players will hate the end game's difficulty because "ressource management" does not matter at all during the whole game except for the last 3 combats... I struggled to be honnest and if I struggled many players will totally become mad.
The mini camp system could have been used to make ressources management important and for it to become an important part of the game's difficulty (no more "unlimited long rest without consequences" EXCEPT if you rest in main areas).
- I have the feeling that there is "too much" permutations... Don't get me wrong I like it, but I have the feeling that it is confusing for the game itself.
As a result I had a lot of wierd dialogue. The quest book is also super wierd and does not update correctly.
- The books / notes / clues are really not detailed enough. Many times I found a message updating the quests BUT I had to read the quest journal to know what to do.
-- It does not help to be immersed and to stay focus tbh.
When I'm doing a quest and find an important note, I'd like this note to tell me the next steps (or at least give me clues).
Having to open the quest journal to find the good one / to check all map marks one by one is really wierd + break the flow of quests. It is especially true in Act 3.
- Act 3 is beautifull I really love the city... But to be honnest Act 3 seems is A LOT too dense to me.
It is very confusing and I had marks everywhere. I have just been totally unable to stay focus. Each time I was going somewhere, there were something new... and always something BIG.
Act 3 really lack "structure" in my opinion, and the quest book does not help at all (not updated correctly very often).
A bit of small spoilers
I don't understandd at all why I had to go to the factory.
I don't understandd at all why I had to "talk with Gortash" in my quest book but when I talked to him he just told me to kill Orin (something you apparently cannot do if you don't kill Gortash first...) without giving me any clue about where to find her.
The events with Orin (asking to kill Gortash) occured while I was exploring the sewer so it was really unexpected.
The "murder quest" never ends
Act 3 was very confusing to me both because of the main quest lack of structure + the TON of secondary content.
- I really like verticality but it it is a bit too much imo, especially with the camera. I would have love to be able to use a bit more "usual" tactics. Jumps and misty step is really cool... but shoke points are cool too !
- I had a few bugs in act 3 but not so much.
- I was very worried about itemization but in the end I really like it. That said there are TOO MANY items / consummables and so on. In the end it really makes inventory management even more of a pain.
-- You should really mark wares as wares automatically
-- You should probably reduce a bit the number / variations of potions/arrows. Do we really need 8 different poison potions/coating ?
-- You should really create MORE auto sorting containers (for arrows, potions,...)
-- You really have to fix items stacking.
Well there's a lot to say but I just end my playthrough and have to think about it a bit more. I have to recover from my emotions !
I was first very dissapointed when BG3 was revealed for the first time a few years ago... I was sceptical when I started to play EA... I fall in love after pacth 5... and now I'm totally in love !
I really really hope you'll work on BG4... and I really really hope you'll listen more to my suggestions for you next DnD game

Good job Larian and thank you so much !
