When you have to use Charisma to do a skill check, you have a banquet of options, intimidation, persuasion, or deception. Even situational options will pop up, giving you advantage. However, I have yet to see athletics utilized in a skill check, which is funny because there are SO many necessary strength based skill checks in play. Every time a strength check crops up, if you have athletics as one of your chosen skills, it should be available for the roll. Whether you are breaking down a door, lifting fallen debris off a nobleman, or wrestling a gift from scratches mouth.
