I am kinda of torn she is a companion as she is so weak. She would be exceptionally powerful and as would her gear. I understand why larian limited her class but maybe she should be used as more of character you supported during very hard fights then an actual companion

Jaheira was introduced in the game for fanservice

Thanks to Larian for Baldurs Gate 3 and the reaction to player feedback

So was everything else. I'm.guessing wotc pushed her though so there'd be ties to the earlier bg games. Hence why she shows up later, and probably is lazily written compared to other npcs despite sctuallybhaving a huge potential for player aware back story.

To be honest I like her and minsc stories in the game but for anyone who played one and two you know damn well she wouldn't of been 12th lvl and viconia at this stage would of been an end game boss

Viconia is safe, settled with a powerbase, not still out adventuring and levelling up. Like all the levels since ToB have gone into politics and etc not adventuring/combat/magic?
Jahiera, you do get the impression she has been mostly desk work at the harpers for a while, only pulled back into active service for the absolute investigation? she's old and rusty, not the Jaheira of the old days in her prime. It is weird how many of her old catchphrases she keeps quoting.
Having her be level 20 or etc to match TOB and growth since would make, nothing else matter? Also if you get stuck in that thinking, all elves should be overlevelled, her being the same level as you just, works for gameplay too?

Minthara is the best character and she NEEDS to be recruitable if you side with the grove!

I beat the game, used her a fair amount in my party. She got no scene at the end, it like went through what was going on with everyone else, nothing for her. Was pretty disappointed.

That said, she is not weak. I played her as a Druid but you could respec her to anything you want. No character can be weak or strong, as there is nothing innate about them thats specific. They are whatever class you make them and whatever gear you put on them.

Replay the ending scene, what charcters get a scene is completely random. I had her and minsc the first time, but after a few goes though I saw her and Astaron and her and Laz having convos too. Also the reactions change who says it too, she said it first for me.

It's really weird how much of the end content is completely random which characters scene you get instead of just seeing all the scenes, the whole game is like that with content being missed being the game only shows only characters reaction, but for the FINALE scenes, it's weird when it rolls so you don't even see a companion you've spent the whole game with.

If you rewatch the ending enough times, eventually you will get a scene with her in it. multiple different ones if you have enough patience

Her god would not of forsaken her powers and she didnt go into politics, she stayed in the fight and went on advnetueres as her children said often leaving them. She shuold of been used as an extra character you fought really tough battles with instead of just a 12th lvl druid. she was a high ranking member of the harpers she didnt just shuffle papers as she wasnt the sort to send people to do things she could

Except reducing legendary epic characters into mid level companions is not fan service.

Minsc and Jaheira riding in as NPC's to save the new party's ass when things look hopeless would have been fan service. Them taking out someone like Kith'rak Voss and his Red Dragon in an epic cutscene would have been fan service. Minsc knocking out the most badass Githyanki in a duel and Jaheira striking the dragon down with lightning, binding it with roots and Minsc coming back to cut it's head off. That would have been fan service. And a good way to establish some power structure in the game world, showing that the PC's are not on the top yet.

But Larian doesn't get that. They have an uncontrollable urge to present low level PC's as equally badass. That means not Archdruid Halsin, not Minsc, or Jaheira get to be more badass than the player. Maybe Elminster could also be a 7th level Wizard companion.

She is lvl 7 when you meet her which is the same in BG2. As far as I'm concerned, the PC from the previous games never bothered opening her cage because she is an incredibly useless, shallow, and annoying character in a game full of memorable, well written characters (such as Edwina). She must have gotten out of her cage eventually but since the only exit out of the BG2 tutorial dungeon collapsed, she spent most of the last 100 years stuck underground eating rats and drinking her own pee to survive. One day some harpers were out meddling in the affairs of others as always and decided to randomly dig holes around Waukeen's Promenade. And that's how Jaheira was found and rescued just in time for BG3.

This last line had no right to be so funny, even with my initial reaction of: "Wow, if I didn't know better, I could think this is random mentorly figure".

Who knows. Maybe Larian did want Elminster as an "elderly wizardly" companion, or a camp scroll merchant, but Ed Greenwood said "no". devil
