Hi, I am still on my first playthrough. I am currently 94 hours in Act 3, where
Gortash and Orin try to manipulate me in killing each other off.
Although Halsin is not part of my main party (which consists of Shart, Astarion and Karlach), he is chilling at my camp most of the time. I like him, he is kind and pretty laid back. I talk to him about this and that occasionally, but I stay away from anything romance related or anything deeper storywise. I want to save his story for my second playthrough and just did the questlines necessary to recruit him and keep him as a potential ally around for later. You know, as the big bear muscley man he is. My solid shield when things will get ugly.
But I noticed something rather kinky about him. This solid rock of a man loves to
get lost and getting kidnapped. And getting saved by me...again, and again, and again...
First rescue was in Act 1, when I had to crawl through that goblin camp to save his bacon from the cellar.
Then in Act 2 he went into a portal without me (bc he is a stubborn mule) and I had to fight for his survival, protecting the portal against an army of shadows. He can potentially be killed off for good when the protal gets destroyed. So I did everything I could to prevent that.
In Act 3 he got kidnapped again, by Orin no less and now is chilling - again - in some dark cellar somewhere, maybe is potentially gone for good if I am too slow to figure out where she has her lair.
We are talking about an Archdruid here. A big, muscley and experienced fighter. Also someone, who at least for me, seems like a person who is observant, understanding of his surroundings and is also very reliable. And this guy has a notorious Princess Peach syndrome. At first I thought it was kinda quirky. But now it starts to become kinda...silly. And that makes me sad.
I really start to lose all motivation I had for experiencing his story in my second playthrough. To know that a huge chunk of him is "I am not present at camp nor in party and you have to save me not only once, but thrice" - I feel kinda disappointed. I am no fan of the damsel in distress trope. It always feels like shallow writing for me and like "we didn*t have any creative ideas for his route so here you go - save him 3 times."
I hope I just have a wrong impression of Halsin*s story so far. So I have a question to those of you who took him with you in party most of the time and experienced more of his romance & story plot: Do I have to fear that Halsin is just a notorious damsel in distress or has he a bit more depth and character development to him?
