So, I'm not sure if this issue is specific to any given class, but the issue I'm experiencing seems specific to my currently level 4 Eldritch Knight (18 strength).

The damage seems to be normal and very high when my Barbarian throws great weapons, but when my Eldritch knight throws a great weapon, the weapon itself only does 1 bludgeoning damage.

For example, the detail on my last thrown handaxe shows:

Damage Roll: 3 (1d6 slashing) +4 (Strength Modifier)
and then a second extra 4 for the strength modifier.

However, every great weapon I throw, regardless of whether it's equipped or bound to him shows:

Damage Roll: 1=1
and then the second roll or 4 for the strength modifier.

I've tried this one several different great weapons of varying type, and it's always the same.

Edit: While I do see that presumably a weapon needs the thrown property to provide its weapon damage when thrown, I'm still missing at the very least, the second addition of my strength modifier.

If a weapon doesn't have Thrown property it's treated as an improvised weapon and deals 1d4 damage. I believe you also add Strength modifier to the damage.
If a weapon has Thrown property it uses same as if you were performing a melee attack with it.

If you're throwing a heavy weapon from high ground it also deals AoE damage around where it lands. I'm having a hard time finding the exact ruling on the internet, but seen it referenced multiple times.

I'm a bit confused cause you're talking about great weapons in one place, but then you're providing an example for handaxe. Are the barbarian and eldritch knight attempting to throw the same item?

according to the wiki:

When trowing things
- weapons with the thrown property deal weapon damage
- items below 10kg deal 1 damage
- items 10kg to 50kg deal 1d4 damage
- items above 50kg deal 2d4 damage

Heavy weapons do not have the thrown property, not sure if they are heavier than 10kg.
