Poor elaboration and quest log is my biggest complain (still game itself is very good). As someone who dont want to play meta builds copied from some youtube video and use guides Ive spent probably 40% of my play time figuring out what the hell am I supposed to do and where. Laugh at me as much as you want - Ive spent 5-6 hours searching for the freaking automaton forge inside the fortress and it was at far left of BG itself. And I couldnt recall who the hell is the woman is in prison and why I should save her - because the quest dissapeared from quest log, same with visiting the big mage tower for Gale quest, it just dissapeared form the log. And lifting the curse via Halsin? I havent done it. Even the sleeping dude I found by accident. No one says what I should do, but "go somewhere" "find something" "do something" to lift the curse. Very helpful. I dont ask a big shiny arrow like in modern games. Just Make quest log more helpful.
ps also spent hours and hours to find the 4th bead in Shar temple. Drove me crazy. I thought its a bug or may be I can unsocket one from the elevator stand and bring it to open the door. Game makes it look like there are only 3 beads - and this is it. 3 trial rooms = 3 beads. But ultimately I accidently noticed it when decided to fight the big demon in ambush. Is it really would be a big crime to mention there are 4 bead and the 4th one still has to be somewhere around? Many more examples like this. I know Im probably a minority and 99% of people would just goodle a video, but this is not how I like playing games.
