The TL;DR - patch notes style shadowheartgiggle

[Druid/Monk]
  • Monk's Unarmored Defense incorrecly imposing a penalty when Wildshaped.

First let me start with a little disclaimer: I do not know or claim to know ins and outs of the DnD 5e rule set in detail. Only that I have a basic understanding from various other RPG games which is also based on DnD rule set(s) or tabletop sessions stemming from older versions of DnD up to and including a few 5e.

In the game's present state multiclass a druid with other classes, or some other class with druid levels, is practically not worth it as there is little to no benefit of doing so, if not outright negative effects. One one such example is the Druid/Monk multiclass, specifically the Circle of the Moon subclass of the druid, which is supposed receive a bonus to AC based on WIS modifier (Unarmored Defense, image below) - while not wearing any armor, meaning no Light, Medium or Heavy of any kind or in any slot - however when you combine this class feature with the Moon Druid's Wildshape ability the AC is incorrectly calculated. As you can see in the image 1 below, the AC calculation for my level 5 character (Druid Lv.2/Monk Lv.3) shows that the Bear Wildshape has a Base Armor Class of 12, then the Monk's Unarmored Defense give my character both a penalty (WTF!!??) and bonus to Armor Class. Based on the ingame description of the Monk's Unarmored Defense class feature (see image 2 below) - and it probably is accurate to the description in the 5e rule set - in a worst case scenario it would just not grand the WIS modifier bonus, meaning you'd get a fat 0 added to your AC when wearing Armor

@Larian - Where does this -2 Unarmed Defense modifier come from? I can venture a guess, that it is some old (early) code example that somehow did not get spotted when finalising the AC calculation formula.

If anyone else have any issues or feedback they would like to share in the thread I will add them to the TL;DR of this post (with link to your specific post), however keep it on the topic of Druid/Class - Druid being the main class
