Hi


Some time back i creadted a permanent potion with the first holy water i found. Not, i have found my second so i want to make one more.

Last time i used my skill i increased it to 4 and deleted it after. Now when i try to set to skill i cant raise it higher than 2. How come? Is it supposed ot be like this?

PS! I have since that time patched from 1.4 to 1.45 which is the only think i can see as i cause. I'm in act4 now so i really dont want to start over to test if this is the case.

So please help me figure this out.

this is a strange (i think) thing...
different 'teachers' and also certain books 'teach' you skills you may use. the problem arises when the teacher or book presents a lower level of instruction than you already have! you revert to the 'new' level, even if it should be 2-8 levels below where you were. ouch. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />
it sounds as though this is what's happened to you.
my suggestion is this - always have a notepad and pen around your computer. list every skill and level of skill you acquire. NEVER read a skill book withour saving prior.
personally, i also have a 'stat' sheet for all items worn (and carried) for each of my characters too. this way i can refer to the sheet when visiting a merchant - keep in mind that whatever is worn by your non-leader is not visible while with merchants.
kiya (or someone else) will probably help with exactly where the skill can be purchased (raised) again.

Pelle, you took and opened the skill book out of the mage's lab, hm? I don't know how the Larians will fix it - but most books with a few exceptions are lvl 5. Books are a prob now, if you have either bought a higher skill - not maxed it out or deleted skill pts and read a book afterwards, cutting down to the last lvl cap (in this case the book).

Alchemy in Act 4 lvl 2
trap detection in Act 1 => lvl 5? 2? Not sure
identify in Act 1 => lvl 2

Holy crap....from time to time when playing i was tempted to send the damn thing back demaning my money back. I am especially irritated by the cd check thing...takes forever and if i even move the mouse whil it is running it fails. Anyway, a few beers later i manged to get past that irritation and many others ingame bug, but now i am running out of hard liquor and i dont know what to do.


This is one of the few skills i have really been looking forward to, saving tonns of herbs and stuff. Next i know this will happen to pick pocket and i will be broke aswell....

Does anyone know of a way to revert this (i dont have a save game from before that book). There must be a editor out somewhere?

I remember from the Might and Magic 8 (i think it was 8) days we all had to send inn our save games to the developer because they had a bug preventing us from advancing in the mage skills...that was good customer support.

So, any ideas?? Any booze perhaps then?

isn't the skill available in the battlefields? from one of the merchants? annebelle maybe?
just buy it back (if the level is high enough).

In the BF Annabelle should teach Alchemy at level 4 (level 2 in act 1). You can hex edit to get the gold back, or just drop the holy water and give yourself the appropriate number of stat points.

The problem is the skill is no longer for sale. I really dont want to start cheating but i guess i'd have any other choce if i want to make potions.

If you can wait until the next act change, Annabelle should have Alchemy listed again to relearn.
