You wanting a difficult game is fair enough. Then again, you can go Tactician and never save during combat or change your difficulty. If you do that, it is entirely your choice, so please do not complain that it brings down the difficulty of the game. I do agree that the game could use some sort of hardcore mode which disables all those little helpers, but taking it away completely is showing no respect to the players who struggle with the game.
That's what I do. But the larian with all this freedom of being able to change difficulty during the game, and save during combat, makes me seem like I'm just wasting time, as much as I enjoy challenges. My friends and some colleagues can abuse these mechanics and say that fight X or Y was easy, when it wasn't, they just didn't do it naturally, you know?
I'm not talking about removing these options from the game, a good idea would be to limit saving in combat and changing difficulty only when the journey was started in tactical mode, or maybe create another mode above tactical.
My time is limited can not play all battles ten times. This is a problem because some fights are unfair! You lose because of RNG. So i wanna save during battles because i do not want to start the fight again. If Larian would make concentraition spells usefull maybe battles would be more controllable but as long as concentrations spells suck i will save during battles.
I understand, the fights really consume a lot of time, but then you would just choose an easier difficulty.
I'm not asking them to completely remove these options, just to also give options to those who don't like them other than "just don't use". As I explained above.
I don't really believe in making the game more difficult just for the sake of it being more difficult.
What's the point in curating the player's experience so much instead of giving them a choice?
You have all the instruments to make the game more challenging for yourself - and, at the same time, casual players retain the option to make the gameplay more forgiving.
Everybody wins.
I explained above. It's not that simple.
