There's so much cut content and seemingly last-minute changes (like Daisy-Guardian, complete rewrite/revoice of Wyll, the seeming removal of a lot of Orin/Gortash content) that, as many here are beginning to note, seems to have been oriented towards transforming the tone of the game from the darker EA to a lighter, more generic power fantasy in full release. I'm really finding the story of what prompted this change almost more interesting than the game itself at this point - something very odd happened here, and I'd love to know just what it was. I feel like it's too extreme a shift too late to be purely from within Larian, but I'm not sure.

I doubt Larian will ever acknowledge that this even happened outside of some empty marketing phrases.

Yeah that's why it's a hope and not an expectation - it's a shame and deeply ironic, because it's a sign of huge compromises being made, which is exactly what the 'don't hold BG3 up as the new standard' discourse seemed to be about; Larian being able to avoid compromises due to size and budget. I guess it just shows that game development is too large and complex to ever go to plan, no matter how much time or resources you have.

I wanted to side with the villans much more than we did. Typical cRPG move to do it for the last mission only.
