Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Unsupported Version for saves after patch

Opened BG3 today and went to play. It downloaded a new patch. Game opened and I proceeded to play for around 3 or 4 hours. Shut the game down and came back after dinner. Upon launch, it downloaded another patch. Opened the game and now all of a sudden all my saves over the last 4 hours say unsupported version and will not let me load them. Help please! I verified the game files in Steam and then tried a fix that said change the name of the Baldurs Gate 3 folder in local appdata and that didn't fix it either.

They had to roll back the last patch, which invalidated any saved games made when the patch was in effect. They're working on a fix.

Ok thanks for the reply. Guess I'm done playing for the night. Really don't feel like redoing the last 4 hours all over again.

This JUST happened to me. I actually had a crash while entering the gnoll caves, and after restarting and verifying files, my game files from about the past 4 hours are greyed out and wont load.

Well - just joined this forum with the name of my now permanently deleted BG3 character I lost 31 hours ; 56 minutes playing. By the by now -- the most current version of the game is now 4.36.34458. Just wanted to log my supreme complaint to Steam / Larian for seeing to it I lost 31 hours and 56 minutes of play time -- fortunately -- if you can call it that -- after almost 32 hours of playing - I was still only in Act 1 of the game -- can you IMAGINE the hostility of a player losing their BG3 character when they were within a few hours of finishing the entire game ?? -- How about a player who LOST their character after over 200 hours of logged in play time !! I can forgive this level of incompetence ONLY ONCE -- so -- did you get my message, forums moderator -- aka -- Larian employee -- aka Steam employee ?? I am politely HACKED OFF -- please don't let this happen again --- now -- I gotta START ALLLLLLL OVERRRRR AGAINNNNNNN .........

Can I just ask what problem has caused you to lose your character? Is it the incompatible saves? If so, then it's possible this will be fixed when the hotfix is re-released so I'd not start all over again yet.

Unless you've seen something I haven't saying that our saves are incompatible for good?

The Red Queen... The Load Saved Game button is greyed out for all of my saves that list the version as 4.1.1.3645567. All the saves in earlier version will still load.

Luckily I stumbled upon this thread as I was thinking I am missing an update somewhere... so thanks guys for clearing this up. it is sad to not continue with the most current save game but I guess I can wait for the new hotfix.

Additionally, here the official notice within steam to the hotfix#4:

NOTICE: Due to a build error causing new crashes, we’ve rolled back Hotfix 4 for the time being. We'll re-release it as soon as we’ve fixed the cause.

If you’ve saved since updating, you won’t be able to load those saves until we’ve re-published Hotfix 4. You can keep playing on your Hotfix 3 saves, you just won't be able to load saves from today’s Hotfix 4 until it’s pushed live again. Sorry about the inconvenience.

i make your words mine, im are feeling like scamed almost like cyberpunk... the message passed to me from larian: your lifetime passed with us means fack nothing!
