I remember the old chap pretty well from Early Access, but going through Act 1 a second time in the full game now I've noticed... I haven't actually seen him on the walkway over that spider pit since release yet. Where'd he go? I know he's supposed to be there because a bunch of discussions since launch have been started about how to save him. Does being let into the goblin camp by Sazza cause him to not spawn? Are there a certain number of long rests he just ends up dead after before you ever go there? The first time I went to the Underdark first but I've seen other people do that and he still shows up.
I've seen Smythin several times in the full release. Usually it's finding him dead in the spider pit though- you have to act very fast to save him, and it's quite hard to do without starting a huge fight with all the goblins in the area.
Oh I kinda forgot I made this thread. I did end up verifying last week, if the first time you go to camp is with Sazza, Smythin doesn't spawn at all. So if you wanna have shenanigans trying to save him or whatever, go without her first.
