As in the title. Not sure if this is a bug or an oversight in the writing, but I started up a Dark Urge character, and I keep getting options to talk about Baldur's Gate anyway. The game explicitly says my character can't remember anything but their name- so how on earth am I sharing memories of growing up in Baldur's Gate with Shadowheart or remembering who Duke Ravenguard is?

Yes, its pretty strange.
I think Larian initially planned something with backgrounds but scrapped it and baldurian was just left in the system for every custom character and forgotten.

Yeah I thought it was strange to see those options when the whole schtick is you losing memory of who you were previously.

Eh, my headcanon is that little bits and pieces might come back to your character randomly (kind of like with knowledge checks). Usually I just avoid choosing those options, though.

old habits die hard, you could lose your memories and retain habits and mannerisms and such. From what I've seen some of the Baldurian tagged replies aren't even about specific knowledge of the city but attitudes in how you react to something. So from that aspect the Dark Urge could still behave as a Baldurian even without the memories of having lived there.

i dont think its a dark urge but a custom character thing, balduran appears to be set by picking race and du just doesnt remove it?

Minthara is the best character and she NEEDS to be recruitable if you side with the grove!

The background is a racial thing, not related to Dark Urge. For example I'm playing a Dark Urge Seldarine Drow and all backgrounds for me are about the Underdark.

As for why Dark Urge remembers these details, I see no harm in it. It is afterall a customizable Origin character with a bit of player twist to it, so it's just more roleplay to engage with.

For some reason my tiefling druid, who I imagine to hail from the wilds or some other circle, has the game trying really hard to railroad him into having Baldurian dialogue.

They left an impression on the city in year 1477. Even if they don't remember everything about their past, they must know enough about where they came from. They are not a lobotomite.
