Just saying, the ability to make one armour look like another is a classic feature in many games of this type. Notably Diablo 3, for me.

The Gith'yanki armour that Lae'Zel wears is genuinely one of the coolest armours in the entire game, but mechanically, there are so many better ones to find. It's always nice to be able to not need to sacrifice fashion or mechanics either way and just change appearance. "Outfitters" so to speak should genuinely be a part of way more games, imo.

I would love to be able to transmog armor. I love the look of scalemail on my paladin, but there are much better options stat-wise. Plus there are some cool-looking hats and circlets that I'd like to be able to use for looks while still enjoying something with worthwhile benefits.

I agree. They already have an Alchemy (and smithing) crafting interface and mechanic coded in. Just allow merging of two weapons, where you get to choose the weapon type you want from among the two and the enchantment from among the two, then provide options for the appearance of the weapon type you chose.

I'd provide it as a toggle above the two weapons (or armor) you put into the craft interface, where you could click on "type" to switch between one or the other and "enchantment" to switch between one or another, and down where you select the button to proceed, it can tell you what you are making. For example, if you combine a +1 Shortbow with a Longbow, it could say "+1 Longbow" (and an image of what it looks like) next to the button to proceed.

I think the best thing that they could do is a cosmetic layout for characters.

+1. I think this game really needs that since there's so many unique looking armors and weapons. Customizing your character in an RPG should be one of the pillars of the game.

+1 this indeed needs to be implemented as either just cosmetic equipment slots if not full transmog.

We absolutely need transmog for armour, even though I think it hurts some of the thrill and cost/benefit analysis of finding near gear. Somewhat tangentially related, we need to be able to alter appearance of PC mid game and alter companion appearance in character creation in the same way that we create our own guardian.

My druid spent all 120 hours of the campaign looking more like a paladin or warrior than an actual druid since most of the good gear is either monk or paladin gear. All the camp clothes are also either noble, peasant, or slutty courtesan.

Not a single good set of druid friendly attire after the initial starter class armor that you quickly discard by lv3.

Must have.
I prefer sort of Wardrobe system ofc, but stat swap will do just as well...imo such feature is even more important than mid game Character editor.

The "thrill" is the reason I think the system should be more complex than "transmog anything," even though it takes more work. If you could merge armors, there would be a built in cost (because one armor goes away) and you'd need the armor to start with. When you merge armor, you would pick which armor provides the appearance and which armor provides the mechanics. You might even want 3 toggles for armor type (clothing/light/medium/heavy), appearance, and enchantment.

+1 for transmogrify. I dont even care in what shape or form, i just want to be able to customize the looks without having downsides from weaker armor

Also adding headwear to camp outfits, as well as cloaks

Absolutely would love this—the starting armor for many companions is quite iconic and I'd like to keep some of those looks, as well as the appearance of some items you get later that suit specific characters both visually and for story reasons (like the Dark Justiciar Armor for Shadowheart). +1
