Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Suggestions & Feedback Lae'zel stuck at level 1 if you miss the second encounter

So, I'm just wandering around and chilling, and not having a care in the world.

My party is level 5 now and I stumble upon what I assume is the "third" point where you have an interaction with Lae'zel, but... silly me, I did not manage to get her before that point (since there was nothing really pushing me to the north of the cliff, I manage to skip it, and when I go there those tiefling are dead, the cage opened and... well you can assume the rest. Although it's nice to see the game as a life on its own, it creates an issue where the encounter you get with her she's still at level 1 (and gets pretty easily destroyed...).

Is that normal? One would assume at least she gained a few level, although I understand the issue it creates for the customization of the character, it would be a better situation than her just being killed because of it.
In the meantime I'll try to save her but I'm no god.

Just res her after the fight, then you can recruit her and level her up!

Can you res a non-party member? I think someone mentioned you can't do that.. Something with Jaheira in act 2.

Yeah, you can only rez party members so this won't work. If you can get into range you could try Sanctuary with Shadowheart if you have her, this will prevent enemies from attacking Lae'zel until her turn at least.

Definitely weird for her to only be level 1 though; there are other recruitable characters you can find later who start at higher levels (potentially higher than your party's level) but when you gain them as a party member you have to level them up from some base level. They could also do the same for Lae'zel, e.g- make her level 3 for the fight but reset her to 1 so she won't be higher than you are.

Actually it does work, i did it a couple of days ago. Probably because she had been part of the group on the Nautiloid, she still had the loot on her that she picked up before the crash... Or maybe they have just scripted this particular encounter to make it possible, to dodge the leveling issue?

So the plot thickens...
Didn't want to go through a whole thing to make her survive, so I tried a bunch of stuff, hold her, prone her and whatnot, but sadly whenever she's back on her feet she goes for it, and whenever she's sightable, she gets aggro and get killed.
So yeah, that was that.

But (and I think more and more there are some bugs there...), I get her cadaver whenever I get to a new map (went to the mountain pass, and the next map and each time I get greeted by a dead Lae'zel...
Way to put my nose in it...
