I was wondering what the best swords are in the game and what damage they do I am currently using the royal sword and am quite happy with the mana drain.

Lets see if I can remember....
Bastard Sword-Knight south of SF castle. Not bad, about 70-80 avg damage. 2 handed. Singing blade-Ars magicania sewers. can get up to 100 avg in damage, possible frost etc. pretty good. The fight is fairly tough, but doable. 2 handed. Blade of Chaos-cave east of dwarf village, on raised ground. Again, damage around 70-80 avg. Abilities can be better than the bastard sword as this is a gold item. 2 handed. Royal sword-This is good early on in the game. Can be bought/nicked from the blacksmith in Ars. Dmg around 50 avg. 2-handed. Deathknight Sword-Pero the armour dealer in Ars(e) magicana. Can be bought/stolen if you're clever. Possibly as good as the singing blade but not usually. Nobleman's sword-Quest item. Good one-hander as shields count in this game. Keep re-loading to get good damage etc. Damage can be in the 70-100 region. Sword of the gods-wastelands item. Can be better than the Nobleman's but you have to wait a while to get it. 1-handed also.
Scary avatar BTW.

Just one. The mage Kristandalous in Ars magicania has one in his study. You have to steal it though. You also only get one shot at it.

If you want a dagger maybe you should ask the dagger instead of the sword or amulet in the holy itme quest

Oh yeah. The holy item too. So you have 2 potential excellent daggers + whatever turns up. Not much really

Talk to him and give him some cash to recite his poetry. Kristo will come out to congratulate his performance leaving you free to pilfer his wares. The dagger is in a chest BTW.... Don't forget the spellbook too.

Never bothered with the sword in the stone. It can be good though. I just didn't want that bloody spook turning up every minute.

Yes, that Chaos sword is pretty hefty. However, i prefer the "Singing Blade" Base Damage 44-107 (101-174 at strength 119) Charm quality 3 +2 to Constitution +80 to Vitality Mana drain 5 Life Drain 2
Ok, it may not be the strongest sword mentioned here, BUT...i got 4 points of Restoration skill, and with all that Mana draining i do, i can rely almost solely on restoration and don't have to carry ton's of health and magic potions or meat around ! I kept the Blade of Chaos though, just in case i run into a situation where i would need a sword with a little more ooomph Generally the emphasis seems to be on 2 handed weapons in this game, at least imho. And that goes for both swords and axes, which are my RPG weapons of choice. I only found very few decent onehanded swords and axes. So i'd like to hear if any of you guys found something "over the top" in that department.
Happy slashing

Well, my "Singing Blade" was a bit more powerful.
Damage: 90-175 (give or take a few points) Charm Quality:5 Speed 10 +8 STR +6 AGI 80 vitality 100 magic 32 resistance to fire +5 to sight Life Drain (5) Deathblow (5)
However, I was a mage so I sold it for a wad of cash.
