Maybe call me paranoid but everytime i play a larian game, it feels like playing an immersive sim rpg. If you recall the og deus ex games you know what i mean. More ways to get an item, progressing with the story in your way(sure there’d are restrictions as well) and in general how you can interact with the environment. I don’t know why nobody mentioned that so far

Sven is big fan of Ultima7, which I believe were precursors to Immersive Sims.

It’s been discussed before, though my view on BG3 systems and their interactivity is far less flattering than yours.

BG3 is neither immersive (systems are rather inconsistent, and the game relies too much on unpredictable scripting, and systems often don’t make logical sense) nor a sim, really. It does have some nest systems, that the game take neat advantage off every once in a while, and does allow for more player expression than most RPGs.

Deus Ex 1 is one of my most replayed games, I only ever got Ultima 9 which was considered the worst Ultima game ever, but mostly due to the story being completely butchered and not canon, so as I hadn't played the previous ones I didn't care. The fun thing with Ultima 9 as a lot of more recent look back reviews said was they basically tried to make Skyrim but with the limitations of DX6, and it was horrendous to play but for some reason I completed it a few times.

Honestly though I hardly care for the immersion and story over the tactical combat, one of my favourite such games I've mentioned a few times being Tales of Maj'Eyal.

I wish there were AAA graphics games with the same depth of combat, BG3 is close and fun enough but I still wish the combat had more to it.
