I had a pouch i kept on my main PC with a bunch of gear i would swap frequently. Im 70 hours in with like 30 save files that span 15 previous hours and every single one of them that spot in my inventory is empty. Pretty devastated because I had a lot of stuff in it for now or later build ideas.

Have a look in your companions' inventories and your storage chest in camp.

Its not that, i have the same empty space in my inventory amongst all my saves spanning 15 hours and i religiously sort by type after every time i loot. The bag poofed and my best guess is something to do with me putting too much stuff in it. Ive heard of other weird bag interactions happening and theres just problems with them in general. I have saves well before it going missing that i know pulled stuff out of that bag to use on my healer and its still not even there.

I had that problem in early access. It looks like they never fixed it. For me the stuff returned some hours later, though.

What I consider mistakes by now:

-- putting a chest within a chest within a chest
Chance is, the content of the innermost chests will go *poof* as soon as you travel to, say, the underdark. Any change of camping spot will do.

-- placing new chests anywhere that isn't the ground
Mine might have fallen through the stones. Eventually came back.

-- adding anything that isn't a chest to your camp
That stuff did not come back.

-- not regularly checking the bags/chest of the mundane you keep all your important stuff in.

And

-- keeping said bag/chest anywhere that isn't your person.

Unfortunately, going into act 3 will break it anyway if you do.

If you're lucky, your stuff may be stranded in a camping spot you've lost access to. That means it exists and might come back some hours later. I believe Bg3 works by sending copies of items into your chests, not necessarily keeping track of where the o.g. items went. That can go oopsie when it forgets your chest is supposed to have some in it. Or multiple chests at the same time.

What's strange is the fact that Grimjoww08 is saying the container disappeared on all their save files, not just the most recent; that makes it sound like it could be some kind of change in a patch which has caused that container to no longer be recognised by the game, e.g- it could be too full as they say, maybe that specific container no longer exists in the game, maybe the method of referencing the container as an inventory asset no longer works the same way, or maybe it contained something the game doesn't like?

You might try reverting the game to the previous version, but you'll need to find up to date instructions on how to do that (been a long time since I've done it using Steam). However if the previous version shows your items as expected, then it would confirm this as a regression.

there is a know bug that does this when you put corrupt items in your bags

[Linked Image from gog.com]

the 2 icons and lack of a split items option when you right click them is the best tell... dump these items and walk away, don't sell them, sort them or place in containers

this is a basic game code error... the only fix is to load another save game from before you tried it
