Apologies Larian, but I need to rant. After 313 hours of playing this game (including Early Access), I have just reached the end of my 1st full play through. I warn you - my blood is still boiling.

This was so f*cking sad and disappointing.

To anyone reading this early in Act 3 - I strongly recommend waiting till Larian will patch the end game. Do not waste a nice experience with this game.

SPOILERS BELOW

Game was 10/10 for me for like 95% of my play through. But once I reached the ending, I feel like I was slapped in the face. This game has finished for me after reaching the Elder Brain. What happened after that is just unfinished product, that I just want to forgot and erease from my head.
No closure. No narrative end to your companions stories. My actions throughout the game meant nothing, my choices had no value (only the most recent ones).
Nothing I did in Act 1, 2 and 3 had any meaning. I would see the same end results, playing as an Evil Dark Urge as well as a Righteous Paladin, but picking the correct options at the end of the game.

Companions not initiating any end dialogue due to bugs e.g.:
-if Karlah survives -> you won't see Shadowheart cutscene in camp
-if spoken with Gale, Astarion will run away like a b*tch after sunburn, and you won't receive a 1-1 dialogue option EVEN if you romanced him to the fullest (I'm not a fan of Astarion, I hate this companion, but I can't imagine what kind of heartbreaking moment this would be for people actually romancing him, that was pathetic ending)
-and many more

Larian did not even add a simple wall of text / couple sentences on what happened to the:
-Druid Grove,
-Shadowlands,
-Baldurs Gate itself,
-Emperor,
-Githianki / Vlaakith / Orpheus (I know D&D/forgotten realms cannon events related to this story, but would be nice to see it in the game as well)
-my companions,
-me and my partner Shadowheart.

If Larian is not planning to launch an BG3 expansion and cover above subjects, then I see no point of not adding a closure to those events (especially Githhianki vs Vlaakith, which canonically has a closure in Forgotten Realms world)

The OG BG 1 & 2 games had at least text endings to you and your companions. Here we got absolutely nothing.
I do not understand WHY at least written text was not implemented to the end game! They had tools and capacity to add f*cktons of text to end credit, but they did not add a text about the result of our (player) play through.

All I have received was 'gg wp u saved the world, cya' and roll credits.

Ending was rushed. Cut content burn my eyes.

I'm so frustrated with this ending.
I feel like a kid, that received a cat, become best friends, had a great time together, just to realize this cat has animal rabies and needs to be taken down.

I love this game, but at this moment it is not 10/10.
It's 9/10 at best, due to miserable short and hollow ending, "felt" cut content and lack of 4th difficulty option (game was way too easy on Tactician mode, while it was advertised as a DnD difficulty run by DM that hates you).

I hope the more people finish this game, the more people will realize it as well, and maybe then Larian will actually reconsider adding cut content to the game with their patch.
I'm not even dreaming about adding Upper City to the game, but at least missing parts of endings. Hopefully it will receive the same treatment as DOS2 with Definitive edition.
At the moment, they are occupied with simple bug fixes and releasing the game on PS5. But the more people finish the game, the more 'bad' reviews will pop up on the internet.

Before reaching the Elder Brain, I wanted to do my 2nd play through immediately.
After seeing this hollow and empty ending, I just won't do it. I don't want to suffer experiencing this again.

Please Larian, hear us.

Fully agree, the whole way through act 1 and 2 i was praising this game and the voice acting and the story and the details through out. I had romanced Karlach who quickly became my favorite companion her Voice acting performance and personality was just amazing. and i was fully invested in helping dammon get her heart fixed. the story ending i received damn near brought me to tears and not in a good way, I felt so trapped even thought i felt i did everything right.
act 3 felt rushed and choppy at best and i experienced little to no bugs or crashes it was just the *feel* of the whole act. then I saw the cut content and I was devastated. while i do trust they will fix some of act 3 and give some better endings I would argue they really RREAAALLY need to consider adding in the areas that were cut back into the game for the beneift of a full act 3 experience. I was ready to have 4 5 to 7 different playthroughs between origin characters and custom ones. I've tried to replay it 3 times now and i cant get past midway of act 2 cuase i cant bring my self to go through act 3 and its endings.
Larian I know you guys released it as is for a reason but please for the love of god, finish this game bring back the cut content atleast the upper city! this game was 10/10 for 90% of the game which just led to a gut punch feeling at the end because of how much out of left field it felt.
you guys are an amazing studio and I want to keep supporting you but these concerns really need to addressed

I'm taking my time in Act 2...hoping that a patch comes out that will address the end game shortcomings. As I get closer and closer to Act 3, if it hasn't been released, I may put the game down and wait. All this being said, it will be hard to pick up a game like this again after letting it sit for too long, so I'd probably have to start over. But I don't guess that's too bad of an option. I've noticed a few bugs in Act 1/2, had a few crashes, but the experience overall has been great. I'd hate for that vibe to get messed up by a terrible ending. So if I have to start over months from now, it'll still be good.

Definitive Edition for that horrid DOS2 original abrupt ending came like over a year later, so don't hold your breath. You'll be waiting a while. Just have your journey and take it for what it is, then enjoy the fixes and expansions on a different playthrough when they release a definitive edition.

As per my notes on some threads yesterday, we seem to be getting a proliferation of threads talking about the ending at the moment (understandably!), so to keep it under some sort of control I suggest we use the one at https://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=881432 for feedback.

I'm just going to lock this and other threads on the same topic to try to cut down on duplicate discussions.

Everyone is of course free to add their opinions to the linked thread instead.
