Hey there,

Is this a sub-forum for people that want to install mods and vent their opinions on said mods, or is this a sub-forum for people that want to mod and learn more tips and tracks on how to do so? I'm hoping for the latter, but perhaps I shouldn't expect this until official modding tools have been released, but here goes anyway.

I came across two particular mods that peaked my interest in learning to do something like this myself. The following list is taken from those 2 mods on Nexus named Lethal AI Enemies & Stronger Bosses and Enemies.

How to?

  • Give enemies more attacks
  • Give enemies more hp (but not more than what D&D 5th edition would suggest
  • Give enemies more abilities
  • Give enemies special features
  • Makes every enemy smarter but there is still a difference. For example most humanoids are a bit smarter than goblins and much smarter than beasts, animals etc.
  • Some enemies will focus finishing low health characters much more frequently.
  • Enemies will focus hitting barrels if it benefits them more.
  • Smart enemies now will be much more focused to throw you off cliffs. If it means death they will even be more focused to throw you, be careful not to stand close to cliffs.
  • Most enemies will focus characters rather their summons.
  • Enemies will target downed players if they don't have a better target. (A character with low hp that can die with a hit.)

How would I go about doing this myself? Like, links to tutorials would be greatly appreciated. I just don't have a clue where to start.

The sub-forum is for all things modding as I see it. Perhaps if modding takes off then dedicated sub-forums will be introduced.

When referencing a particular mod or mods it is generally a good idea to post a link.

I don't know much about this but most BG3 mods are just .pak files which in turn are just archive files. The files which make the actual changes or additions to the game are inside the .pak. So the first thing you need is the ability to unpack the pak (and repack it later).

There is a link to a guide by Padme somewhere in this sub-forum and I noticed another somewhere on Nexus.

Folk are welcome to bring up anything modding-related here, but the BG3 modding community tends to hang out on the modding section of Larian Studios Discord so when it comes to getting advice on modding that is likely to be a better place to visit, at least now.

If more people do end up wanting to discuss the process and practicalities of modding here, then certainly we'd be happy to revisit how these forums could best support them.
