I was not expecting the reunion between Wulbren and Barcus to be so... tumultuous.
Barcus risks life and limb several times to get to the Last Light Inn, sets us on the trail of rescuing his friend, and after all that's said and done, he treats Barcus like utter garbage!

The guy had the nerve to say, "I rescued myself! This guy just helped!" Excuse me, little man? If I hadn't come along, killed the Warden and all the guards, and retrieved your hammer for you, you'd be strung up by your thumbs by now!

I should have left him to rot, the ungrateful sod.

My favorite response to him; 3. Prick grin

After he threateningly told me to repeat it again I was hoping I could in order to give him a good thrashin' and toss him out of the protective dome. An eternity as a wondering zombie should teach him some manners.

Yeah, definitely a dick.

They also broke somewhat in Act 3 for me, as I ended up:
putting Barcus in control of the Ironhand Gnomes, yet both thanked me for installing them as head.
Which made me want to stomp Wulbren even more for stealing Barcus's thunder.

Yea, he's straight up a hypocrite. You'd think he'd have some understanding considering the history of his people, but nope lol.

Actually the tieflings are the worst.

When saving Wulbren and gang from moonrise towers prison by making a hole in the back of their cell, they will run to save the tiefling prisoners and will not get in the boat without them. The tieflings will get into the boat the first chance they get and won't even wait for gnomes even if the gnomes are already running towards the boat from their cell.

Do you need to find Barcus somewhere else in Act 2? I rescued him from Grymforge but he's not at Last Light with Wulbren.

Did you convince him to rest at your camp after saving him? That's where I talked with him and he admitted to being a terrible adventurer and to needing our help. I don't know if that's a requirement or not.

Also, did you check the small room next to Jaheira? He's supposed to be around that desk and bookshelf space opposite the stairs.
