It's pretty cute seeing your character climb all over boxes and run back and forth around the table to loot items, but the cuteness wears off after a few playthroughs. The ticker for me was a bottle of ink on a desk at Last Light Inn, where my character ran out of the building, all the way around and down under to the dock area, then climbed boxes and "picked up" the ink set from through the floor. The cuteness, while laughable, became a "Really?"
I'm sure this is something you devs are aware of (3 years in EA and all) but probably not a high priority at launch. However, it would be a nice idea in QOL patches beyond bug fixes to increase the "pick up" range of looting items, similar to the (I think it was) telekinesis from DOS2 that increased that pick-up range. Just a basic "grab that spoon on the other side of the table without running around the table to get close to it" bit. Would be a great improvement.
Also standardized loot icons - stealing icons are red, but always just show the little 'open chest' icon with no indicator of whether or not the crate or chest has been emptied, contrary to the way it works with non-stealing loot containers. A little less clicking goes a long way in a loot-heavy game throughout multiple playthroughs.
Finally, there are many cases where the asterisk or 'empty' tag aren't applied to corpses for looting - usually special-case corpses (like the ogre's corpse in the infamous barn) where the corpse highlighted with the alt-key has no indicator it's been looted or not. Standardizing all corpses and containers for clarity would be a nice little touch. I suppose this would qualify more as a bug rather than a suggestion, but it's all in line with the theme of this post.
I'm sure these are on the back burner somewhere, just want to top it off fresh so it doesn't fall off the plate.
Thanks!
