Yea, I had put in 10 skill points at the end used the skill on loads of doors and thought the doors were just "lockpick proof" like some in DD were or needed switches, until I found out from a post by Kiya that it was broken -.-, I hope Larian provides us with some info about this broken skill, also remember there are people playing this game and have no Internet at all and therefor cant get the patches, and have bought a "Broken" game, i think its rather sad ^^

You can unlearn skills (select the skill in the skill pane, then click on the trash can icon).

Yes, true, but that doesnt come free (It costs cash to unlearn), so the customer pays for the makers mistakes. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

given the issue with the lockpick skill i think it is only fair to publish the link to Raze's instructions for duplicating items (in this case, your gold stash, so that you can basically pay yourself back for having to spend the cash on the unlearning). Thankfully, it doesn't cost anymore to unlearn a skill with 10 skill points invested than it does to unlearn one with 1 point. of course the price of unlearning goes up as you go up in levels. you can also use this to give yourself the cash if you don't have it. [color:"red"] UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you duplicate any battlefield keys EVER. doing this breaks your quest log.

make sure you [color:"red"] READ THE INSTRUCTIONS VERY CAREFULLY AND THOROUGHLY OTHERWISE YOU WILL END UP BREAKING YOUR GAME. BACKUP THE NECESSARY FILES BEFORE CONTINUING. [color:"yellow"] KEEP IN MIND THAT WHILE THE LINK IS FOR DD, IT WILL APPLY FOR BD. IN THE CASE OF THE GOLD, SINCE IT IS IN YOUR INVENTORY, YOU DON'T NEED TO DOWNLOAD THE FILES THAT ARE LINKED TO THE THREAD BELOW, YOU ONLY NEED TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO DUPLICATE YOUR GOLD STASH. USE THE LINK FOR FULL INSTRUCTIONS. BASIC STEPS ARE BELOW

1. MAKE SURE GOLD IS IN YOUR INVENTORY. COPY THE INVENTORY FILES FROM THAT SAVE GAME TO THE SUGGESTED FOLDER.
2. DROP YOUR GOLD ON THE FLOOR, AND SAVE AS A NEW SAVE.
3. COPY THE INVENTORY FROM THE SUGGESTED FOLDER TO YOUR NEW SAVE.
4. LOAD THE NEW SAVE. REPEAT AS NEEDED.

NOTE THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CLOSE THE GAME EACH TIME, AS ALT-TAB WILL ALLOW YOU TO SWITCH BETWEEN THE GAME AND THE DESKTOP (ASSUMING YOU HAVE NO OTHER PROGRAMS OPEN).

anyway, the link is http://larian.com/ubbthreads/showfl...&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

i posted the actual link so some can copy and paste in the unlikely event the link itself is broken or not working for some reason. HAPPY EDITING.

Another way to recover gold you need to spend to work around bugs with skills is by hex editing.
File swapping duplicates the piles of gold you have, while hex editing maxes the amount of gold in each stack. Hex editing is more effective if you start with less that about 50k gold, but the more gold you have, the more effective file swapping becomes.

true. i had gobs of gold available initially. hence.

and i also have no hex editor. so if you have one, Raze's suggestion might be more practical
