Hello adventurers,

First of all, I want to apologize for my poor english.

I come here as a last resort to solve an issue with the game, as I have tried everything and haven't received any response beyond an impersonal automated message from Larian's technical support. I understand they might be overwhelmed, but I've been dealing with this problem for a month now, and all the "common" solutions haven't helped me at all.

I'm referring to this link: https://larian.com/support/faqs/crashes-during-gameplay-pc_61

Let me explain the problem,

I start the game, and everything is fine until about an hour or so, approximately, when my screens go black, and the game forces me to restart the PC. Sometimes this happens when there's a portal, explosion, or special effect, but other times it occurs randomly. This only happens in this game; I've played current titles like Diablo, Cyberpunk, Resident Evil 4, and had no issues.

My PC:

-GeForce RTX 3700
-AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core
-16GB RAM
-Windows 10 Home

I've tried everything:

-Updated graphics and Windows drivers
-DirectX and Vulkan
-No mods
-Deleted the "early access" folder
-Lowered graphics settings
-Disabled DPI scaling, used administrator mode, and Windows 8 compatibility mode.
-Verified files on Steam.
-Removed PC overclocking through BIOS.
And many more things that I can't even remember now.

I've even taken the PC to a store to identify the issue, and after testing it extensively, the PC is perfect, with no temperature or power supply problems.
These crashes are severe and can't be good for the PC.

I have the Crash Dump, Dxdiag, and the latest save (which I've sent to Larian's technical support), but I've been waiting for a response for about three weeks now.

I analyzed the PC right after a crash with WhoCrashed, and the reason for the crash is:

"DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"
Bug check description: This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high.
Analysis: This is a typical software problem. Most likely this is caused by a bug in a driver.

I've done my own research and it seems like there are more people with the same problem. Patches, like today's, do not solve this.

I've played the game as best as I could, amidst crashes, and the experience has been terrible. I'm torn between disappointment and helplessness due to this issue; for instance, it crashed in the middle of the final cinematic, and I had to finish watching it on YouTube.

I hope that the community here can help me, because Baldur's Gate 3 is a great game to me. I enjoyed it like a child during early access. I'm a Dungeons and Dragons role player, and I want to have a fulfilling experience with this masterpiece.

Thank you very much, everyone.

Do have more details regarding the crash?
For Example, an error code such as "0x000000D1"
or the name of a file such as "nvlddmkm.sys"

I'm going to start by recommending two basic things that you can do:

1. System File Checker tool
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...les-79aa86cb-ca52-166a-92a3-966e85d4094e

2. Completely clean your system of all Graphics drivers and Reinstall.
MSI has a good video tutorial for this:

The File Checker Tool was one of the first things I did, thanks anyway.

I will watch the video and reinstall all the drivers.

The bug code is this: 0xD1(0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF, 0x2, 0x8, 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF)

Greetings

Hello again,
I installed DDU and followed the steps in the tutorial, uninstalled the drivers and cleaned the PC, then reinstalled them again.

But it has happened again.

I thought I had already solved it, since it took about 4 hours until it crashed. frown
How can I see the name of the bug?

The WhoCrashed says this:
Crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\082923-13390-01.dmp (Minidump)
Bugcheck code: 0xD1(0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF, 0x2, 0x8, 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF)
Bugcheck name: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Bug check description: This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high.
Analysis: This is a typical software problem. Most likely this is caused by a bug in a driver.

Sometimes the program does not detect all crashes, this last one for example did not detect it.

Greetings and thank you

UPDATE:

I ran the System File Checker again and the diagnosis was: "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."
I also did the Display Driver Uninstaller, as I said in the post above.

I think this is not the solution, since I don't have any corrupted files and the game crashed anyway, with the DDU done.

What other options do I have?

I need your HELP, you are the only one I have. Thank you.

Is there anyone who knows what I can do?

I apologize for insisting, but the thread is getting lost, and I still haven't solved the problem.

I continue to find solutions, and I'm bumping the thread to prevent it from getting lost among the new posts.

I'm still hoping to find someone knowledgeable about these topics.

Thanks

I was having a lot of issues with crashing to desktop after patch 1, game became pretty much unplayable. Tried all the random fixes, deleting saves, turning off cloud saves, dpi settings on the app, run as admin, compatibility, lots of stuff.

I have a new machine that I built last month and it has been running fine, temps are good, no other problems. Decided to try a bios update and the issue was immediately fixed. MB still had a bios from December last year, upgraded to the latest and the problems disappeared. I'm running DDR5 on a Z690 with an i9-12900k with no overclocking and it is now rock solid. No more crashes since the bios update.
