I know this may not be a big deal but it's a bug so I figured it should be mentioned.

During the camp celebration when the team saves the Tieflings from the goblins, there is one npc near Withers that is sitting on a log. His name is Ikaron. There is only one option during your first sentence response to his first comment that requires an ability score check (CHA). When you choose *that option, the game stops. It doesn't freeze, lock, or crash; it just stops. You have the option to reload, attack, etc from the dialogue buttons that appear on the bottom left of the screen but the image that appears is your character about to speak to Ikaron but instead your character just stands there.

I don't know if it makes a difference but my character is a deurgar female. Maybe being short or female or deurgar is throwing a bug, I don't know.

Anyhow, bug mentioned.

This is after patch 2 has been loaded all day so far. It is 9:28 am EST 9/1/2023 here.

I'm having similar issues in other various dialogs. If i pick any option that requires a roll my game hangs up the same way regardless of the character initiating the conversation. Dialogs not requiring a roll seem to be working fine though.
I've even tried removing all mods thinking it was one of those not supported in patch 2 and still no luck getting rolls to work

Likewise. I think Patch 2 just broke the game, and not in the good way.

THIS!!! I thought I was going crazy. I've gone through all the embarrassing number of characters I've created that haven't even finished act 1 yet, and it happened on all of them.

I think I fixed it for myself. I had to clear out this folder: \AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods. I also deleted the localization folder which was not a good idea. But when I went back into the game to check even though everything clickable said "not found" I was able to roll the check during the npc conversation. I'm verifying the games install in steam in hopes it will bring my localization folder back

I can confirm that DastardlyBacon is correct.

I had all mods disabled before I even started this playthrough. I thought I had deleted them all but after reading Bacon's post, I double checked and yes I had a few mods. Upon deleting the mods and then going back into the game, I can do dialogue rolls again.
