I think Alfira would make a fine addition as a bonus companion along with Minthara/Halsin/Jaheira/Minsk. Her story arc would involve going from a helpless Tiefling to someone who fights to protect the helpless. We could get a more in-depth backstory involving her mentor and her own ambitions etc.

If we get a bard companion, I'd rather have them to be Helia, the halfling werewolf bard, that was datamined.

I 100% agree with the statement above ^

We really don't need Alfira as a companion compared to Helia - who seemed really quite interesting and would fix something that I know is disappointing for a lot of people - the lack of a short race companion.

(Also worth noting, Alfira has clearly got something going on with Lakrissa which is beautiful and that alone makes me not want her as a companion since many just want it for a romance with her)

Oh, yes, I love they are so cute. And yes, Helia sounded so great and we need a shorty in the group. I play a halfling bard on my current first playthrough in honour of Helia.

It is strange that we have gotten no Bard companion. There are two Druids but no Bard or Monk.

How about Volo instead of Alfira? He is also present in our camp most of the playthrough!

I confess I don't understand why some people are so passionate about Alfira as as companion... but then I'd love to have Dammon as a companion or camp follower so maybe I should't throw stones from my glass house! lol

personally i'd rather Alfira over some werewoman. like you mentioned were missing a bard companion, and she seems like a fun character who could have such a cool background. you mentioned she could rise and fight to protect the tieflings and i completely agree. (i hope i did the spoiler right, never used the forum until today to vent my sadness

The 'werewoman' was a) already planned and b) would give us another race as companion.
Plus Alfira is not a bard, just a normal musician. And happily involved with someone else, so no romance.

I wish she was as a Bard, but to be honest the game does not need any more companions, especially the good aligned ones because this is heavily going into quantity over quality problem which even now is apparent since some of the existing companions are bare as bones, Karlach being the best example and she is even an Origin companion.

They should focus on making them as juicy as possible in terms of content before even remotely thinking of adding any more. And even if they do, they should be coming from Minthata's side to balance out the paths.

shes got a cool outfit, nice voice, and could potentially have this great story building up. personally i dont mind the game is a bit stacked in the good heroes favor since i feel that is the cannon way to play. she just doesnt seem like a background character compared to dammon. its very weird, to me she feels like someone we were suppose to have but cant.

We need more shawties.

Bard companion would rock so hard !!! And Halfling Bard companion would even better. But I'd take the Tiefling.

Alfira ..remember to /play/ the lute. Don't help verbally. You need that lute to get music proficiency
