Honestly, while Act 1 full release is "fine," i actually preferred the writing/atmosphere/characters of the EA version by a pretty wide margin. The full release feels like a downgrade outside of bug fixes and a few extra classes.
I'd love to see the EA version playable again. With the state of Act 3 on top of the totally different tone, no consequences for tadpole use, etc, I'd actually just prefer a few more playthroughs of that rather than the full release. I don't like the new "power fantasy" angle; I want to play the version where feasting on tadpoles is actively a bad idea.
It feels like a totally different and inferior experience now.
I'd just like it if Larian could honestly let people know why they changed what they did, because it's not just plot-related stuff, but atmosphere and characterization and seemingly their overall artistic vision for the game and story. Like, that big list of cut content doesn't really come close to describing the differences.
Exactly! Cut content aside, the last minute changes to everything about the setting, characters, plot, atmosphere, etc are just so jarring that I think I have mental whiplash. Acts 2 and 3 aside, even what we got with Act 1 is just so different and less interesting in every way. I'm surprised it isn't talked about more.
Unfortunately I had the game on Steam so I don't think I'm able to get the EA version back.
