Don't flame me bro: Baldur's Gate 3 could seriously do with a PvP game mode.
- PvP arena-style mode where two teams of 4 (or more) face off on small to medium-sized maps/dungeons to complete randomized objectives or simply defeat the opposing team
- The map is large enough that teams could try to avoid each other and focus objectives and has multiple ways of getting to said objective
- How a team chooses to approach objectives depend on their strengths/builds, which are identical in terms of equipment and mechanics to the single-player campaign
- Limited number of potions, scrolls and other items are allowed to balance the teams and not allow for gimmicky playstyle
- Although servers wouldn't hurt, this could be P2P so long as host is allowed to set some rules/settings
- Prizes could include things like unique equipment, potion/scroll/action items, all that could be used in a campaign or in PvP
- Allow for guild functionality where success in PvP gives additional rewards the members can share
- Guilds can have their own customizable PvP "camp" where they prep for matches
As much fun as single player is, I feel like what I described here would do wonders for the game's longevity and popularity among theorycrafters and people that just enjoy PvP in general. Larian could even make it so a character that has completed the single-player campaign (any difficulty) is required to access PvP to ensure players have a basic grasp of the game rules and to pad their player metrics. I feel like it's only a matter of time until some developer comes out with a D&D turn-based PvP game, but Larian has the lead on this potential and should consider making it happen.
