Given the huge, living world that Larian has created wit BG3, I find it surprising, that the vendors/trading system is so non-immersive. Why would an arms trader (or any tradesperson) buy rotten eggs?
It appears one can sell anything to any vendor without upsetting them, which is neither realistic from the view of the world nor a common practice in D&D campaigns (at least not the ones I witnessed and my NPCs would throw the players out of the store if they came with such a rude offer).

I can understand, that it's tedious to visit a ton of different traders if the vendors buy only their specialization, and probably not what most players want, but if I offer 260 rotten eggs in exchange for a sword, I would at least expect a nasty comment and a change in disposition from the vendor.

Maybe add a toggle mode to turn on specialized vendors?

Why is rotten eggs an item you can pick up in the first place?

I find the vendors un-immersive as well but not because they buy everything. Selling loot to 5 different vendors doesn't sound like fun gameplay.

What I have an issue with is a refugee blacksmith who has a large selection of +1 weapons and armor. Better than what you can loot from slain enemies. "We are refugees on the run, we don't have much"... except this magical gear that is better than anything you have, which we won't use ourselves because reasons.

Larian's problem again. Gameplay is ignoring the narrative. Because you need to have gear progression, some silly RPG storytelling can't get in the way. And for whatever reason that progression can't come from loot and has to come from trading.

I just think with the current system, we don't need vendors at all.
For selling, just let us sell items directly from the inventory.
For buying, provide a menu/dialoge option with a Investigation Check to see, what wares are available in a given region.

That would speed up things for selling/buying and be closest to a real tabletop game.

Abstracting character interactions out of a character driven game seems very contradictory to me. I would be angry if Larian implemented this suggestion.
