Hello,

I bought the PS5 version specifically to do couch co-op with my family. But for some reason I can't add the 2nd player. Turning on the 2nd controller does not cause the game to ask me (1st player) to add the second person. Have tried turning on the controller at different points such as during the intro video, during character creation, and before the game starts.

The PS5 system acts normally. When the second controller is turned on the systems pauses to ask which person is using it, etc.

Image shows new controller added during character creation.

Am I doing something wrong or is there somewhere where there are clear instructions?

Thanx in advance,

You need to make a multiplayer game.

If starting fresh : select multiplayer from the main menu. Create a private lobby. Then turn on the second controller and press a button (default being X). The second player should then join in split screen.

If continuing a save: load up the multiplayer save file. Once loaded, press start and select multiplayer. Once the screen is up, turn on the second controller and press a button. The game should then create a split screen environment and you can move characters around under the player icons to select who is controlling which character.

My experience was pretty simple (though not straightforward) for adding a second player to a game.

During character creation, with two controllers on, the second player pressed X and joined. The same action works when loading a game too.

This is incorrect, you can easily join by just pressing options with a second controller on a single player game
