Well, tribes is a multiplayer action game but a special one.

You can ride vehicles, there are objectives... supposed to be fun but I never played. Good find, though : although it was out for a while, downloading from Fileplanet is simply not fun.

I played it long ago. Its similar to Unreal Tournament. There are 3 types of armors, light, medium, and heavy. Light armor allows you to move quickly and use the laser rifle (sniper) but you can't take much damage. Medium armor is a little sturdier and slower, and heavy is slowest but can use devestating weapons like a mortar. All armors have jetpacks with flight duration based on armor, light having the longest. When the pack is depleted it slowly recharges. The jets were my favorite feature.

There are multiple game types such as capture the flag, deathmatch, and seek and destroy (destroy the generators in the other team's base before they destroy yours). Vehicles play a large part in the game though I always had diffuculty controlling them.

All in all, a fun multiplayer game (no single play), although it is quite long in the tooth by now.

Tribes was great in its day, with its use of vechiles, the abitity to take out key points on a enemies base (Greatly reducing its effectiveness) and certain player classes that not only encouraged team play but made it essential, meant that at the time of its release it was quite innovative. Many games have since taken the concepts and run with them but Tribes was essentially the forerunner. Its just a pity it didnt sell as well as its better known brethren of the time.

Multiplayer ? Then it's not interesting for me.
