This is my second time playing the game (started from latest version), but I'm having trouble getting into the Quarantine area. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

I solved the whole Elrath thing, and got the cure flasks. I also became a member of the theives guild. I want to open the back door on the Quarantine area without lockpicking. This board said you talk to Lain after becoming a theif and he gives you the key; the only problem is he isn't! I don't have any conversation options with him at all, and I can't trade for it...

What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.

I got the key after exposing Elrath. The first time through the poor quarters I had talked to Lain and he mentioned visiting a friend in the quarantine area just before it was quarantined. After getting Elrath arrested, I had the option to ask if could still see his friend, and get the key from him.

I think you additionally have to try once (!) to enter through the main gate, and discuss with the guards as to why the area is locked - that triggers the second conversation option with Lain about him being able to visit his friend Cedric - you have to insist on him to give you the key then.
