Currently, there is no way to swap to a melee weapon before ending your turn for an AoO; the only exception is using and cancelling a weapon skill or bonus action that uses a melee weapon--if you don't have any bonus actions left for that turn, though, you're screwed.

PLEASE add a button or action for the radial menu for swapping weapons on PS5 (and apparently it's an issue for PC players using controllers as well).

This seems like a pretty big oversight to me, so if you've experienced this issue, please share so that we can get a fix!

I agree that this is a pretty big oversight. Would love to see it fixed. I think we have three unused options: Holding the square, triangle and circle buttons. One of them could easily be used for this.

Most definitely. They could even just add an action that's mappable to the radial menus if nothing else.

On PC I've opted to set up a steam controller overlay when I put my finger on the touchpad that brings up a quick menu of things that arent bound to controller, like swapping weapons. We really shouldn't have to do this.

I would like to request for this as well. The capability of switch weapon after actions are used before ending the turn should be provided for controller users!

PC controller user here, and I'm always having to switch the UI between KB&M and Controller just to do this very swap. It's hella annoying. :-\

It�s really unfortunate Larian decided to cut this feature from the PS5 version. Guessing we will have to rely on cross saves to beat the game on tactician

I play on PC and PS5. I use the swap melee/ranged all the time on PC. Please add this to console. I have to unequipped and equip my melee weapon all the time. Its really annoying. Just make it into an action we can place on our wheels.

It�d be nice to be able to switch weapons too. Go from a sword to club as needed. On PS5

This actually isn't a minor convenience issue, either. If you have your ranged weapon equipped during combat and aren't able to switch back to melee, you can't use an attack of opportunity if something runs by you. If you've used all your actions by the end of the turn, there's no way to switch it back, but with keyboard/mouse you can just press F and be all set. This definitely needs a fix. I'd rather lose out on the quick light source switch if it means being able to swap melee/ranged at will.

I play on PC, so I'm not sure how the console version works, but I would imagine you can switch from your inventory. Unlike switching between melee/ranged, though, it requires an action to actually change out equipped weapons, so a quick switch button for that isn't as practical.

Exactly. I thought that this would be added in one of the patches since it�s a pretty big oversight, it makes PC players have an advantage. Still hoping that it gets added in patch 4 rather than later (or never).

I didn't even realise this was a problem until recently; first character I played was a paladin so mostly attacked with a melee weapon, when I occasionally used ranged I either never got opportunity attacks or assumed enemies had a way to bypass them. Didn't realise it was because I had a bow.

That's such a weird design decision, as even while holding a ranged weapon you should still be able to make an unarmed strike (e.g- kick) at the very least. But since switching weapons is free in BG3 (just select melee or ranged attack and it happens before you even do it) there should be no reason the character can't just switch for an opportunity attack as well, we shouldn't need to do it manually (though having the option would be nice).
