Actually if Larian doesn't ever intend to return to Illithid lore, I'd like some fleshing out of Mind Flayer material in-game through DLC. While we were promised Illithids, it feels they were merely a front for the game's real antagonists. I would have liked to see a Mind Flayer colony actively working against the Absolute beyond the handful of guys we meet. We meet one Mind Flayer in the Underdark, and that feels like a disservice. I'd have also liked to face different kinds of ceremorphosed creatures. Why no neothelid fight? Brainstealer dragon? MINDWITNESS?

I think it would be cool if we could do like the older BG games and export/import characters. That way you could join any open game with a character that is already designed. For balancing the export could take solely the appearance of an already made character and you would just level them up to the game's currently level. That way no items or one time bonuses are getting duped. This would save a lot of time in character creation for people and make it easier to join a game with custom characters, since you are pre loading one instead of taking control of someone else's in an already started game.

Actually this would be pretty cool. Despite Larian marketing the game so much with mind flayer imagery (It's even in the logo!), this game surprisingly...doesn't go that much into mind flayer lore. It kind of gives the impression that mind flayers, when under the control of an elder brain, are drones. They're not really a hive mind in the sense we usually consider those, though; they're capable of individual, independent action, beliefs, and even personality.

I also feel like they might have missed on Githyanki lore a bit, or at least what I remember of it? It has been a while. But you kind of only see them as this super-strict military culture when they themselves are supposed to be decadent and highly individualistic. But I haven't done a Gith tav playthrough yet, maybe it shines through more there.

Yes! definitely and the goat who eats our rotten camp supplies! hehe

Some other one off ideas...

Camp Expansion. Allows for pack animals and a wagon. Later a cabin or house in the city that we can decorate with our monty haul. Includes more camp encounters and ambushes.

A Black Cat for our camp and a Broom that can be ridden, for our witches and warlocks. Includes Apothecary mechanics for brewing poisons and medicines and expands on the Hag plotline.

Wither's Wardrobe of Actual Wardrobes (dress em up)

Volo's magic paintbrush, a Portrait and Avatar customizing suite.

Horn of Companion summoning. In conversation brings anyone from camp into the current scene as if they were in the party. Outside of convo summons them as henchman attached to the party leader.

The complete Rangers Handbook, a tome which adds a tracking and forestry/hunting mechanic to the game and a few bonuses to itemization and animal companions, favored enemy etc to boost the class.

The complete Rogue's Handbook, a tome which adds a trap setting mechanic to the game (similar to what we got going BG1 to BG2). This could be done for any class but I'd start with those 2. OK fine wizards too... lol

The complete Wizard's Handbook, Grimoires (for the other wizards who aren't necromancers) and Wands! Includes a mechanic for creating scrolls and enchanted items. Wizards tower later on, of course!

Oh oh and the Rope expansion pack, which adds all sorts of uses for rope. Includes a magic rope towards the endgame, and a grappling hook mechanic. Obviously heheh

Also this one, which I still think could work...

A planes DLC would be great, Planescape Torment would be an inspiration source. Building a Baldur's Gate-level of quality Sigil would be terrific, but maybe that's for BG4 instead of a DLC smile

If you're willing to put the resources in, a seafaring campaign with ships, pirates, Umberlee, buried treasure, swimming and the like (yo... crazy idea, but level one Balduran prologue?).

A Gond campaign (jungle, dinosaurs, artificer joining the roster, pyramids, mummy lords, etc)

A lot of people want Curse of Strahd. I want Curse of Strahd too smile Curse of Strahd-like DLC! Get into that vampire stuff for real, not like Act 3! smile

Not a DLC per-say, but releasing a creation kit and DM mode (like D:OS2 had) would be amazing for people creating custom campaigns, and then you could curate some and include them in the game (like Beamdog did for NWN1). Considering the great success of BG3 and the sheer number of people owning the game, there might never be a better time to try DM mode again...

I don't care how, I just want one of the least-represented fantasy race groups to finally be playable in an interesting space: Bird People.

Video games are rife with furries (cat people, dog people, werewolves, rodent people, etc) and scalies (dragonborn, lizard-people, etc), but there are almost never, ever bird-people races that are playable, in any game. I know. I've searched high and low.

And Forgotten Realms has a few different options to choose from.
Harpies (they already have models for this in-game, at least female ones).
Wereravens (https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Wereraven).
Aarakocra (https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Aarakocra). There's even a lore book in BG3 that references them.
Kenku (https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Kenku).

Honestly just having a werecreature DLC in general would be nice, as I know quite a few people want them, and there are already werewolf models in-game. Werewolf, werecat, wererat, and wereraven would be strong choices for it. So as not to bloat this discussion too much, I made a full post about that in-depth over here: https://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=107130&Number=889789#Post889789

I would just use the cut content, or data that is in the game files but not implemented at the moment: It will be hard for Larian to use any new asset or VA just for DLC.

DLC (somehow easy to implement without involving VA or new mocap):

Idea 1. - full Minthara romance / full companion setup for Minthara in BG3 (as rich as origin character), assuming that some of the dialogues are already recorded. This also means that she would get pregnant.

Idea 2. - longer ending and epilogues (the 2h of recorded epilogues with Jergal from Youtube for example)

Idea 3. - A specifically crafted new Difficulty setting for advanced DnD players. This would add new enemies, new enemies behaviors, more enemies during current encounters. Stronger bosses. Nerf of exp points per fights etc.
Basically I would rather get a proper in-game option for a 4th High Difficulty setting, rather than fan mods that breaks the game after each patch.

idea 4. - Upper City content. DLC would allow us to visit Upper city, and have some couple quests there.

Expansions (this would require new VA and mocap):

I would love the same treatment the BG2 got with Throne Of Bhaal.

Idea 1. - (lvls 12 - 14) Avernus expansion covering Karlach and Zariel plot (obviously)

Idea 2. - (lvls 12 - 14) Baldurs Gate after time skip, that would have new plot, new quests, access to Upper City etc.

Idea 3. - (lvls 12 - 14) any other planar / epic questline for characters at lvl +/- 14.

Alternatively - a new story and setting:

Idea 4. - (lvls 1 - 12) Underdark / Menzoberanzan plot with new characters. Larian already got assets for Underdark expansion.

Idea 5. - (lvls 1 - 12) any other DnD / Forgotten Realms settings - Watterdeap, Icewind Dale , Neverwinter etc.

I really want to believe that Larian understands that they got the tools and assets to give us MORE content with the same engine they got. The only really problem is VA and mocap, but I'm ready to pay another 300 PLN (60 USD) for it. Each fckn time.

I would love more mocap!

I mean now that we've seen what rope can look like in games, I also want to swim and get in the mud and scale down some of these cliffs! hehe

also

DLCanines & Felines Expansion: Reigning Cats and Dogs "Unleashed!"

Expands the options for familiars and animal companions to include customizations. With options to tweak the colors and patterns of their coats and new phenotypes like Sighthound, Scenthound etc. Grants the special ability "burrow" which allows the player to dig up buried treasure without a shovel hehe.

For the cats a 9 life levelling system and the ability to climb pretty much anything, with the 3 act treatment.

Corvid Collector's Edition "Uncaged!" a bunch of bird unlocks, like jays, parrots, hummingbirds etc each with thematic abilities and custom plumage. You get the idea, just lean into the customizable familiar concept with all the standards.

A fleshed out new Origin Character within the small races, preferably (off course) a female gnome of the Jansen-family - there's always room for an epic turnip adventure

Easter eggs for other BG 1/2 characters. Eg. Descendants, old weapon or armor, maybe some of the longer lived raced characters (Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes) alive or undead (Edwin becoming a Lich, shades of characters).
