I got the key from the Lich,down in the cave.What the heck does it fit?

I found the Lich diary,but where was the battlefield key?I thought that I searched everywhere down there?

In the southern corridor that runs east-west, part of the wall is not as solid as it appears. The BF key is in a room in the central area of the square formed by the cave corridors.
