So I'm in act 3 and I have level 12 + 33k XP.

Game should support more levels past 12, but I also understand the extreme power this would give to players. This also includes a possible DLC or maybe more zones in the DE one day.

So here's my suggestion:

1. Max level per class stays at 12
2. Max level is increased to 20, but you have to do multiclassing past 12

No more power creep, but multiclassing endgame would become a real form of art for theorycrafting, etc...

And the DLC would become entirely possible, as well as (re-)adding things like Upper City, Avernus, etc...

Sounds good?

Yes, I thought so!

I wouldn't be wild about that idea because I generally don't like multiclassing from a story/character perspective. Most characters I make, multi classing doesn't fit them

I'd prefer more content to more levels.

That aside, I have no issues with your suggestion.

Why on earth would you want more content without increasing level cap? I already ran around lvl 12 for the last 20 hours.

Powercreep is bs. Githaynkai powers already make you op. Add consequence to using them and you can actually have power scaling that makes sense.

It's the semi-official concern given as a reason why level cap is 12 and why having DLC for BG3 is hard by Larian.

Personally, knowing D&D 5e. I don't see much of a problem up to and including level 19 (level 20 is ultra hard, because of "fun" things like "Wish", which is almost impossible to properly implement without an omniscient AI as game master / narrator), but I'm not a professional game designer.

I guarantee yo ucan find a secondary class that is close enough to the flavor and lore for your main class that it doesnt feel like you are multiclassing.
