Hi All,

Anyone who has romanced Astarion might have noticed, that if Tav doesn't get the confession scene before entering MRT and speaking with Araj, they will instead get the scene afterwards, btu morphed into the "thank you" scene as it were (IF Tav doesn't force him to drink Araj's blood of course). As the game is now, what this thank you scene also does, is it upgrades Astarion's greetings to two new, otherwise NOT THERE ones, namely "Gods, you're beautiful" or "What do you want to talk about, my dear?" (the latter is not verbatim, can't recall the exact words).

The problem is, that IF Tav got the original confession scene before speaking with Araj, there is NO separate thank you scene afterwards, no asknowledgement of the event at all for that matter. And what follows, is that the greetings DO NOT update, either. In my main playthrough I decided to stick with the original confession scene as I found it more impactful, thinking the greetings would just update at a later date. Alas, I'm already in Act 3 and still stuck on the same very high/exceptional greetings from way before.

I originally posted this on reddit and saw others having this problem as well. I sent a bug report to Larian as well. What I'm wondering about is whether the original scene not triggering the greetings change is the bug, or if there was supposed to be a separate scene after Araj (with confession scene already done beforehand) that just doesn't trigger for some reason and so the following greetings change doesn't happen either?

Has anyone else here experienced this as well? Or perhaps the greetings got updated for you somewhere further along in Act 3? (I myself have literally just got into Lower City on my main playthrough).

Yes. This is happening for me as well. Had the confession scene before meeting Araj. No separate thank you scene and his romance greetings did not update. Hopefully they don't remove or change the timing of the confession scene before talking to Araj. I prefer it to the one you get talking to her first (which is what triggered it on my first playthrough), just a fix to the romance greetings not updating. I'm at the end of Act 3 (good DU, non-ascended Astarion romance) and I never had those greetings trigger, I was hoping maybe they added them to the final romance greetings but unfortunately they did not.

..Oh man that just sucks. So this means something in there IS bugged after all. I might try to position my good boi durge playthrough so that I get to Araj first, just to get them greetings then (which would kind of suck because I also find the OG scene so much more impactful with him confessing about the deception and all..). Unless maybe patch 3 (which is planned to land in a week or so) will somehow fix it.

Sorry for the late response, but I heard there may be a work-around to getting both the OG scene and the thank you scene after Araj. I don't have the save anymore so I can't test it yet myself, but supposedly once you get the OG scene, don't long rest and then talk to Araj, refuse her request regarding Astarion, then long rest and the thank you scene should play. Supposibly the person got it to work that way. Idk. Here's hoping Patch 3 fixes the romance dialogue greetings not updating.

Hm.. I just went back and tried to do it this way - got the OG confession and ran straight to MRT, spoke with Araj, refused right away (didn't discuss it with Astarion further) and went to camp afterwards. No thank you scene though, unfortunately and no changed greetings afterwards, either.. Though it does make me wonder, because once you get the confession and hoof it into MRT without another long rest, once you do rest after speaking with her Gale will be all "!!!" because he wants to be talked down from killing himself and if you do that scene, it's basically a 'rest scene' same as confession/thank you scenes (i.e. you go automatically to sleep and new day rises and you can't do anything else).. As far as I can tell, it triggers when ytou first arrive at MRT, so now I'm wondering if perhaps that's what is overwriting the supposed thank you scene with Astarion.

I guess in order to check that, I will need to dig out an earlier save, hoof it to MRT without sleeping OR confession scene -> long rest -> hopefully get Gale sorted and out of the way -> rest again -> hopefully get Astarion's confession -> talk with Araj -> rest again -> hopefully get thank you scene -> hopefully get them damned greetings updated..

Oh well. Guess I know what I'll be doing tomorrow then! Will report back with further results and/or if per chance patch 3 will just.. resolve this (I wish hah!).

Same here, if I get the original confession before the drow, then no "thank you" scene afterwards and the greetings don't change either.

But my game is very glitchy though, I don't get half of his camp cutscenes. My game is not modded and I don't have any performance problems, runs smoothly. But the quests and cutscenes are terribly bugged for me. Granted, I still run pre-patch 2 game, I didn't want to update because of all the problems that people were having.

THEY FIXED IT! I REPEAT, AS OF PATCH 3 THE MAD LADS FIXED THE GREETINGS!

*cough*

Waited for the patch to drop and went in to test: you no longer have to trigger the thank you scene and the greetings auto-update right after you've had the confession scene now! Also, this DOES work retroactively, meaning it also turned on the new greetings for my most recent game save from Act 3 (where my Tav only had the OG confesison and old greetinfs up until now).
