So I adore BG3, but talking to my friends there is one thing we all share: having to fight the temptation to save scum. I’ve played D&D for over a decade and you obviously cant save before doing a roll at the table, yet sometimes in BG3 the temptation is really hard to resist.

I had an idea that there could possibly an option when creating a new campaign to make saving the game a resource like spell slots that resets on long rests, maybe have more if you choose explorer difficulty.

Yeah I know I’m essentially suggesting a feature to help with my own poor self control but games like Minecraft offer a hardcore difficulty that auto deletes saves when a player could just do it themselves, it helps players stay accountable for their choice of how they want to play.

Either way, BG3 is the game I’ve wanted my whole life and it’s amazing either way. smile

Divinity had an hardcore mode that purge your save when every character die, but it was...hardcore.lol

but this is a great point you are making. this should be addressed, because i too, have the same temptation, although i personally don't mind that much to spam my F5 key (ha) other player might.+1 wink

I already expressed my wish to see a way to limit savescumming as an option. What you are proposing could work, I like the idea.

I only see people with no self-control and incapable of accepting a wrong roll, none of you would survive a tabletop session.

1/ At least for me, self control has nothing to do with this. The problem arises when you like both equally :

- playing a game, living with the consequences of your actions ;
- getting the best outcome of a situation.

As you like both equally, you can't decide what you want more during each dice roll. So you want an option in game to remove the choice, so you can enjoy playing the game "with consequences" fully.

2/ People like this would have no problem "surviving" during a tabletop session, as that would, in fact, resolve their problem. That's exactly what they ask. people who want to keep the ability to savescum and who want to use it every time are probably the ones who would have a hard time during a tabletop session.

I agree with this.

I'd love to see a mode that doesn't allow for save scumming.

It's called "ironman" mode, and better used for XCOM than this sort of game.
