If you kill Isobel and consequently wipe out last light in, the devilish ox's corpse is conspicuous by his absence. Do you see him again in chapter 3? Or do you need to kill him beforehand to get the shapeshifting ring?

You can check in Rivington near that lone barnhouse where you encounter him in Act 3 to confirm.

I am sure you can but I was asking the question to know what the outcome will be beforehand.

I am still waiting to figure out who the hell that ox was. I carried him all the way into the city but until it was my ally, but I never saw what it was lol

He's a shapeshifting ooze. You only get to know what he is either in the final battle by summoning him or by forcing him to reveal himself and then you have to kill him.

Ah, that explains it. I�ve never summoned him. Wasted potential!
