tl;dr I knocked out Minthara *IN* the Goblin Camp. Went back after clearing a few more rooms and resting to find her gone. She was out cold with 1 H.P. I could loot her but not get her squirmy wiggler. Her shield and boots, which I did not take were also gone. I am vey curious to see if Larian decided to allow people to interact with her later in the game should players do whacky things like this. Lol, I hid all of her friends in vases and containers in case a patrol happened to come by. The journal says I need to kill her, but also that she is dead, and in another entry it says she was taken care of along with the other Goblin generals so we shall see. Now on to the long-winded overly descriptive ramblings of a very sleepy gamer who has been awake 24 hours now. Ugh.

OK, I'm sure a million people have tried a million ways to keep Minthara around for later in the game. I tried various things, and just recently (yesterday...err, or early this AM) decided I was going to off all the goblin leaders. This being my second run through, I decided on the Priestess first, with no witnesses. Then it was off to a few rooms with 1-3 goblins I could kill quickly and hide their bodies in containers. Then, I snuck into the room behind the Halfling Vendor (I think I just jumped through a crack in the wall oddly enough. I stocked up on barrels of Firewine, Oil and Smoke-Powder then placed three near Raghzlin, one in front of the dead Mind Flayer, one in back of him, and a barrel on each side of the groups of people watching, making sure one would blow up the warning drum. After that I did the chat with him and the illithid, and was on to Minthara. The big test. How to "not dead" her, not get a wanted tag, and still have the quest complete. Sazza was alive by the way.

So I go in and position my two best melee characters on her flanks so she cannot move. It's me, her, Karlach, one of her minions who she is lecturing, her desk in front of her and no way to move backwards. I put Wyll on the top of the furthest ledge for advantage on Eldritch and sent Shadowheart across the bridge as far as she could be from Minthara and out of line of site. I waited for that stupid eye to be in a spot where I could shoot it with Shadowheart without anyone actually seeing me do it. I was immediately accused and used intimidate "If I did do that then I must be very dangerous indeed" or something to that effect. It worked and they just let me stroll Shadowheart up and position her on the second level of the other little rocky ledge thingy across from Wyll for some Guiding Bolt action. I started the conversation with Minthara like a good little drone, then after she was all excited I said "No, you have it all wrong, I am here to execute you." I had drank a potion of speed with all of my characters right before initiating dialogue as well. She was down in RD 1 from a non-lethal blow. Yay! The rest were a joke. No War drum and the goblins who were closest were already dead, so no one was coming. I made the mistake of non-lethal attacking Sazza too, but after stuffing all the other goblins in vases then resting, I had that stupid "Enemy of the State" tag so I had to go back to a previous save and kill her (Minthara was still knocked out, as was Sazza, and I poked her while she was unconscious with a sword and that was that. No witnesses, no tag. I then cleared a couple more small areas before going to Raghz. I shot one barrel with a fire arrow, blew almost everyone up except two people whose barrels just decided not to explode. It made no sense. So I wasted another shot on them. Killed the two people on the upper level with me, and got caught looting the damn bodies via line of site and a crack in the wall. No enemy tag bc they did not see me kill anyone, just looting them, but it did force me to have to kill 4 or 5 more I wasn't planning on until later.

So, now they're gone, I loot the bodies, hide a bunch, get his treasure, shut the door and long rest in that area. I then go back to Minthara's room and her body is gone. I was going to pick up her unconscious body and just bring it to camp but it would not let me. Anyway, everything was as I left it, except, Minthara and her boots and shield are now gone. Where to? I have no idea, but she was alive after 5 or 6 rounds+ with 1 H.P. so she had to be stable, but she was/is definitely AFK. She is listed as dead in my Journal, but was listed as dead as soon as she was knocked out. Another entry said I still had to kill her but all three goblin leaders were taken care of so, idk. I'm hoping against hope that she pops up somewhere down the line. Now there was no attack on the Grove even though I did not clear the goblins in fron of the building yet nor did I clear the ones in the main hallway when you walk in. After all that clearing goblins room by room as stealthy as possible, rescuing Halsin, whelp I was all goblin'd out. I even saved the prisoner without blowing him up. I was quite pleased with myself. I did it once in EA but in my last playthrough...yeah, it didn't go all that well, turning into that awful 55 on 4 battle that takes hours. Of course going room by room planning everything and hiding bodies took about 10 hours so do with that what you will ;^) .

Wrapping up in the Grove and Camp I'll be heading back before visiting La'zelle's friends then trekking to the Underdark. I want that sword though...I have The Cambion sword and Tyr's Justice along with a fantastic Great-Axe, but that Silver Gith Sword, for Act 1, wow. Hopefully she does not lose her noggin' and leave when I say we have to go to the Underdark before going to the Creche. We'll see. She was fine in my last playthrough but I didn't do the meet up with the Gith Part either so, idk, we'll see. Hopefully I can pass wtv speech checks I need to or my approval is high enough for her to hang in there as we will go, just not right away. That part is way too hard for level 5 characters anyway. I'd have to drop to easy and would probably still struggle. We'll see, I'll keep a save from 15m or so before I get that part rolling. My biggest thing is still being able to get Minthara. I hate the fact that you have to straight up doom 50 or so interesting to quest giving to fricken possible party members (some who are not even there yet) if you want Minthara. I'm hoping against hope that Larian made some adjustments behind the scenes for players who are thinking a little outside the box. I didn't read about this on Reddit or watch a YT video, it just seemed to make sense to make sense to me. I knocked all of the Paladins of Tyr out so Karlach could finish them off as she was not in my party when the fight happened. After the fight I rested, went and got her, came back, and the lead Paladin was gone and his two friends were murdered by someone who was not me. That's actually where I got the idea, so, fingers crossed. And no, I don't think I'm the only person to try this "Big Brain" hair schemed plan. But hey, you never know. One thing different in playthrough can have some pretty crazy changes tens, or even dozens of hours later in the game. Oh, I also could not get her worm...The plot thickens!

I suppose we'll see soon enough. Lol, or eventually. Like I said, I need to go back to clear the front of the camp. I NEED Crusher's Ring. That thing along with a couple other items are clutch late game. Who'd have thought an extra 5' would make such a difference, but hasted with a few other items, oh my goodness does it turn you into a battlefield Zig-Zagging wave of catastrophe.
K, enough out of me. I promise the update will not be a novel.

tell us if you succeed, or not (the most likely conclusion)

because there is a thread complaining knocking out characters = killing them.

Knockout kills her in A1 - in your save she's gone permanently. I can confirm this from experience.

Why, I save Minthara every time. Only from her wrongdoings, though. Sorry, couldnt resist.

I dont know any way to solve that quest that doesnt end in her death. As the "good" solution you have to ignore the whole problem to keep her; then you dont help either side and just move on. That means Halsin is unavailable. Keeping both is to my knowledge not an option.
