I know there's already a thread about Tempest Clerics, but didn't want to hijack someone elses thread with this question.

So, I'm early run through of my Tempest Cleric. The way I'm planning to play her is as a front line (or just behind the front line) to leverage Spirit Guardians, because of the number of "melee" based spells/heals Clerics seem to have (and because I couldn't keep Shadowheart safely on the back lines during my first run). As this is my second run through of the game I'm trying to take the companions I didn't first play through - this includes Astarion and Lae'zel.

I'm looking into gear for the mid-game (so everything up to the Gauntlet of Shar) and find myself unsure what direction to go in. I find my main dilemma to be between Lightning Charges and Reverberation (yes I know it's bugged and doesn't knock prone at 4 stacks, but the negative modifiers to rolls stacking to 7 is still powerful) or a mixture of the both.

For Lightning Charges I'm generally looking at a combination of - The Watersparkers (Electrifies any water and gives Lightning Charges for standing in it), The Sparkswall (stops me getting electrocuted by my own boots) and The Real Sparky Sparkswall (turn Lightning Charges into a Lightning Aura) -there's an option on The Sparky Points but the Blood of Lethander feels too good to pass up.

For Reverberation - Gloves of Belligerent Skies (stack Reverberation when I deal Thunder, Lightning or Radiant damage) coupled with Thunderskin Cloak (Potential to daze attackers who have Reverberation) and Ring of Spiteful Thunder (Potential to daze target who has Reverberation on dealing Thunder damage). If I don't take The Watersparkers then I have the option of Boots of Stormy Clamour (Reverberation when applying a condition)

There is also the option of Daredevil Gloves (Bonus to Spell Attack Rolls and can cast Ranged Spell Attacks as Melee Spell Attacks) - if I don't go Reverberation
or
Sentinel Shield (Better Initiative - I'm currently only 12 DEX - and perception) or Shield of Devotion (Extra level 2 Spell Slot, plus a low level cast of Aid) - if I dont go Lightning Charges

I do have some reservations about the Lightning Charges set up as this is going to create a large puddle of electric water between my team and our enemies, which means Lae'zel isn't going to be able to get in and deal her heavy damage without getting electrocuted herself. But it does seem like quite a powerful passive AoE combo all the same... and it means I could take Daredevil Gloves to help mitigate the disadvantage from Threatened for a number of my damage spells.

Thoughts, Suggestions?

If you throw someone in an Electrified puddle, does it count as the thrower applying a condition? Because a Barbarian/Thief2 Lae'zel wearing Boots of Stormy Clamour could Throw a lot of enemies per round in a lightning puddle smile
